The premise is pretty neat, adding some sci-fi elements mixes well with the desperate survival mode the human characters are in. Becomes a bit boring by the halfway point. The cell-shaded CGI animation is distracting(ly ugly) and makes the big action finale just feel like a crummy cutscene with a Godzilla who's just.. there. The very end is interesting again, so I'll guess I'll check the continuation. Not like I have anything better to do anyway..

Gets a little boring. For most of it it's just kind of there, and then it gets interesting at the end but you know, it's the end. I have no doubt that the next part will be better. Animation was okay as well but hardly outstanding, not my favourite style by any means but I don't hate it as much as some people do.

The Worldbuilding is quite nice, but this Movie suffers because its a typical Anime.

awesome concept, the idea of godzilla devastating the planet to the point of total supremacy and human evacuation to space is epic. however it lends itself to a "low budget" feel when, despite being able to do anything with animation, we see godzilla surrounded by trees being buzzed by space motorcycles. no sense of scale, or pacing good god this movie is a bore. fell asleep repeatedly, even with only 15 minutes to go. ends on a cool cliffhanger.

Average at best. The dialogue was horrendous and the English cast was painfully bad. Godzilla's design was pretty good the rest of the animation was pretty average. The worst part of the whole thing was the fact that with anime you can do anything but instead thyroid have Godzilla doing less than in any of the live action or previous animated incarnations. Also the ending or lack there of was a bit of a slap in the face. Average but really more for Godzilla completists than anyone else.

How do you make a fantastic premise like "humans return to fight Godzilla after fleeing earth" into just a huge boring pile of garbage? Spend 89 minutes of your precious time on Earth watching this ugly, generic turd to find out!

It's kind of a new vision for a Godzilla film and while it's not a complete film (it's the first of a trilogy), it's certainly a good start. The animation is a little hard to get used to and our main attraction is actually not in the film for all that long, but the story and set up is rather interesting and a good take on a film franchise that has been kind of done to death. Know what you're getting yourself into and enjoy it!

Probably the worst Godzilla film. Just talk talk talk and boredom the whole time. It was so lame I didn't even finish it. Animation wasn't very impressive at all. Give me Emoji Movie any day of the week!

Decent enough Godzilla flick, needed better characters.

If nothing else this is at least ambitious in trying to do something new with the Godzilla series. Alas it completely fails in the execution. Scenes have either a lot of exposition or mumbo-jumbo science, characters yelling at each other a lot or sentimental music cause those are the emotional scenes. There are absolutely no characters to care about it this. The action in the second half also vastly disappoints. G just kind of stands still, On top of that I also didn't like the animation.

It starts out with an interesting concept, but fails to really live up to what it could be. Characters aren't developed the best, the CGI animation is really ugly, and is rather boring in places. Even with all the negatives, I was still interested in seeing how things ended up. The ending is a massive cliffhanger and I'm interested enough to watch the next movie, but one watch is probably enough.

The three films together have a whopping 4.5 hours of running time, but they only offer a plot for a maximum of 30mins, absolutely nothing happens the rest of the time. Only repetitive dialogues without any sense and influence on what is happening. They run from one MacGuffin to the next without them advancing the plot. In addition, Polygon Pictures CGI just seems cold and lifeless. It all looks the same, if you didn't know that it's another film, you could mistake it for BLAME! form 2017!

Monster Planet is a low point for the series. Relying too much on Anime-style intensity and too much shouting. The monster is built up big time, only to end on a note which could be considered insulting to those who didn't already know this is the first of a new trilogy.
