I loved the reversal of gender roles, with Misato Tanaka as the militant female lead and Shosuke Tanihara as her control-room sidekick. The cinematography has improved noticeably since the Heisei days as well. Even the pseudoscience and alternate history come off as more endearing than usual. I loved the climax, which lovingly evokes the Heisei era's battles. But this far into the series, a Godzilla movie needs more than that to stay memorable, and this one just doesn't deliver enough.

I like the monster design, but the special effects are Mega-cringey.

I enjoyed the few horror-aspects during the buildup, where regular civilians are threatened by xenomor- errrr, slimy bugs. Combined with the backdrop of the flooded city that could've led to some memorable and even tense stuff. The gender role reversal was very welcome and the final battle definitely has some moments. Everything else in-between is just kinda... there. Unfortunately forgettable. And for a title where black holes are shot from space at a giant lizardydude, that's a dang shame.

The story is an absolute hoot: The plan is to destroy Godzilla by miniaturizing a black hole, launching it into orbit, and shooting it back down at Godzilla so that it sucks him in. The funniest part is how the plan is explained in the most vague and simplistic ways, kind of implying that none of it really matters anyway. The movie's all about Godzilla and Megaguirus duking it out. Despite some horrible CGI, the fights are decent. I like the eerie silence used with Megaguirus.

not enough monster action to justify a plot that doesn't give a shit. the scene where all the dragonflies swarm godzilla was awesome. other than that, the cgi used was abominable even for godzilla standards.

I actually like this one, even if it's a bit cheesy at times.

Swing at the king you better not miss. And to be fair, Megaguiras doesn't, but the black hole firing satellite weapon launched into space orbiting Earth (???) does. Maybe. Twice. By the end it turns out Godzilla was b lining to destroy the Institute of Science the whole time. Enjoy the fun!
