Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla

Has more crystals than a New Age bookstore. Or the Fortress of Solitude. Whichever is funnier.

All the human bits are terrible and drawn-out and ughhh, plus every time that Zilla infant showed its dumb doll-face my soul shriveled up a bit more. On the (only) plus side, Space Godzilla's design is so ridiculous that I can't not like it.

This title sounds like something I would've came up with back when I made stop-motion Godzilla movies as a kid. It also has a similar level of quality.

SpaceGodzilla was a creative monster, and I loved the idea of humans fighting alongside Godzilla in a giant robot. Unfortunately, they got the most annoying, the most boring, and the most unlikable characters as the three that do it. As much as the psychic didn't fit in, it would have been better to have her fight with Godzilla instead of introduce her powers and then ignore her for 90% of the movie. That and the bad editing and little accomplishments in the fights made the movie pretty bad.

Not sure how to rate this. Any number applies, depending on your mood.

Space Godzilla is a ridiculous and amazing design. If Godzilla was also Mewtwo, you'd get Space Godzilla. This also has some ok human plot in it, and while the monster action isn't the most exciting, the power that Space Godzilla shows is pretty fun to watch.

It's just sort of there. Not bad, not great, BUT it does lead into Destoroyah. I already reviewed that years ago, andI said it was riffable or whatever...but it made me choke up having watched it after seeing the entire Heisei series in a row. So watch the fuck out of Godzilla vs. Destoroyah, and buy the toy of Space Godzilla. GvsSG is most memorable as shelf candy.

Supesugojira is a pretty competent city-stomper, there's a real calculated malice to him. These films tend to have decent soundtracks when you look past the english dubs, the sfx and music in this one are actually respectable (though there's no theme quite as magisterial as "Birth of Adult Mothra"). Oh yeah, and there's a Predator reference in this movie. Yes there is.

Dicks out for Godzilla! Godzilla is the best animal!

Sure this is a dumb movie even by some of the other movies in the series standards. Yet I was still oddly captivated by these people and their attempts to control Godzilla while he fights an evil space version of himself. Also poor little Godzilla, that kid belongs somewhere safe.

The plot of this one is especially bad even by kaiju standards and much of what happens to the people has zero effect on anything to do with the monsters. The first 3rd of the film is 3 dudes jogging on a beach trying to hit godzilla with small arms fire. Space godzilla looks cool and their 2 fights are decent...except for the awful score. The music is better suited to a pokemon fight than a giant destructive rampaging monster fight. Its light and airy where it should be heavy and thundering.

This film really doubles down on the young ladies with psychic abilities that have appeared in more of these films than Mothra, who has a wonderful James Bond sounding theme. Baby Godzilla is a travesty against all that is cool. not very much, space godzilla looks adjecyive at least. The cast and characters are terrible and obnoxious. Funny how we get the conclusion to the tiny ancient alien storyline from Mothra two movies ago.
