I only need to have seen two Fatty Arbuckle shorts to know that had Keaton stayed with him, he would have gone nowhere. This is a sheer misapplication of the genius that is Keaton. Aside from that we have a horribly mediocre short with about one good gag in it that might possibly have made the corner of my mouth twitch, but nothing more.

At times it can be very funny, but it doesn't flow very well.

Keaton is wasted here which is a shame and once again Fatty plays an unlikeable asshole.

This kind of slap-stick was already starting to feel a little old-fashioned in 1918. It has some nice elements (the opening in the rain, Alice Lake makes for a cute madwoman, there's a now-cliché out of focus point-of-view shot as Fatty goes under from the ether, etc.). However, it definitely feels like a slapstick-heavy throwback to Keystone days, made to give some breathing room in a year when Arbuckle made a lot of pictures heavy on location shooting and big set-pieces.

Probably the least funny of the Arbuckle-Keaton-St. John shorts. The gags just weren't coming, and Buster and Al were hardly tapped.

Well, the opening segment in the rain was good for a chuckle. But we're starting to see a lot of repetition here, with the cross-dressing, and the weird "transfer press" that forgot things are reversed when that happens. Maybe that's the secret: this short is better backwards?

One of the worst Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle short films. Jokes aren't funny, story disjointed and unoriginal. Everyone seems running and falling for no reason.
