A nerve-wracking escalation of bad and desperate decisions from a terrible person who drags all those around him down into a grimy, neon-drenched vortex where hope and empathy come to die. But enough about [religion/politics], Good Time is quite the intense ride. One where you both want to get off, and can't keep yourself from leaving since you want to see how far down things can go. The ending arrives quite suddenly, but that just adds to the merciless 'that's life for ya' factor.

I loved this. The Safdies are really good directors. A lot of the exterior shots of the night city and the way the conversations are filmed reminded me quite of bit of Michael Mann and David Fincher. The intro was extremely well done too. Robert Pattinson is very good and Benny Safdie is actually really good. This movie was very intense at times and uncomfortable at others. Just about everything was done well here, even if Connie isn't a very likable guy. I highly recommend it.

A twisted electronic dream set in the neon streets of New York City. It's a story of dysfunction and desperation that is, in its own way, propelled by love. The music is beautiful, the cinematography all its own, and the performances are so good you can't tell the professionals from the non-actors. The Safdies do it again.

Pattinson's character Connie Nikas invokes an at once craftier and stupider Vincent Gallo from "Buffalo 66", in a character-centered crime caper crossing "Dog Day Afternoon" with "Crimson Gold". The Safdies create a gritty, unnerving thriller of errors with a nuanced anti-hero; an underprivileged yet self-entitled prick, who is not quite as good a brother as he thinks he is to mentally challenged Nick, played by Ben Safdie in the gutwrenching scenes book-ending the story.
