The fact that this was directed by E from Entourage is the most perfect possible punchline.

Worth the slog to watch Travolta struggle with which consonants to drop or butcher when talking with his wild accent. I don’t care about any of these moments if there’s nothing other than Travolta ham carrying me between scenes.

Not as overtly laughable as its reputation would suggest, and it doesn't even seem so bad at first, but definitely a crappy, third-rate biopic. There's no story structure whatsoever (just senseless hopping from scene to scene), a terrible score, silly sentimental moments, utterly bland direction, and a bizarrely positive portrayal of the Gottis. Travolta, inconsistent accent aside, actually isn't bad, but this stinks of cheap vanity project.

John Travolta seems to be in his element with a convincing portrayal of the New York mob boss. Poor writing and direction made it hard for anyone to really shine. Little was memorable aside from the history lesson it provides. The writers and director focused too heavily on historical events rather than making a rewarding movie with good viewer engagement.

Middle-of-the-road mob movie; though arguably miscast, Travolta is a pretty good Gotti, but a lurching, disjointed script lets him down; leaves a bad aftertaste in its climactic moments, attempting to portray the Gotti's as misunderstood 'Robin Hood' type figures - at least The Godfather knew that the Corleones were supposed to be villains! Liberal stealing from GOODFELLAS in form and style merely makes you wish you were watching the better movie!

I gave it 21 (it could get worse for this movie!) because I watched the dubbed version in Persian and the voice was greatly fitted the character. well, I couldn't imagine Travolta's voice as the boss of a mob! surely based on the time it wastes on every unnecessary scene, it is just one of those overused formulas for making a gangster movie. nothing more. the story itself can be more interesting...

Terribly made, cliche ridden biopic was rightly slammed by critics. Travolta is frequently laughable, especially in poor old-age makeup, and he is undermined at every turn by a shoddy script and Connolly's incompetence, who can barely craft emotionally coherent scenes let alone good ones. The plot is disjointed because of its relentless temporal shifts, and there is no perspective on Gotti other than a questionable attempt to present him rather unambiguously as a quasi-folk hero.

merciful in its awfulness. the entire movie is full of pitch black scenes where identical looking guidos mumble triple about family and being a man. I suppose it's possible I missed something due to the quality of that rip I watched, but nothing I did manage to understand suggested otherwise. this isn't even fun in its badness; it's just utterly incomprehensible in every way. Travolta would be ashamed where that an emotion he's still capable of processing.

I think critics were way too harsh on this movie. Travolta does a fine job as Gotti. The actor who plays his son is excellent and Travolta's real life wife (Kelly Preston) does an outstanding job playing his onscreen wife. I thought it was an effective movie; my main criticism is that it jumps around a lot.

I expected shite, but suprised at what can be done with a semi-script, no direction and a super-hero among actors. John pulled this thing of ours up from the flogged horse under Hollywood, made it almost disgusting enough for a minute, before yielding the stage to a pair-o-pecs who went from marriage to teenage kids without adding a single facial expression ? WTF happened to makeup? Any points are cos John's got it, but needs a better movie. One that finds a place for the Fun Loving Criminals!

If you're in the mood for a mob movie, watch Goodfellas again and let this one go.

Every decision made moment to moment and scene to scene seems to be the wrong one. John Travolta seems to be in a different movie than everyone else.

The complete lack of structure, the disjointed random cuts between major life events in Gotti's life, the direction and acting essentially boiling down to "always be more Italian" and "keep getting dumber," the random Pitbull musical montage transitions... this is really a transcendent piece of trash.
