The Rob Schneider Project-day 31. Adam's friends are over, the same from the movie that's playing in the background, but now they are naked and sweaty. I can't focus on the funny fart sounds on the tv, Adam is shouting about how every few years some 'aansjent spirrit of Snai'darr' needs to find a new 'sewtable hoost' because the previous one gets a 'likwefaid brayne'?? Then they all start chanting and pointing at me, haha. I think they want me to say something but I fart and step in a mousetrap.

It's cliched in the sense that every single person had their little faults that apparently only took one holiday weekend to fix, but the story isn't what's worthwhile about this movie. It is genuinely funny in many places, but they really didn't go out of their way to do anything new (especially James with his physical 'look how big I am' and Schneider's 'look at how weird and uncomfortable I am' shticks).

Some genuinly funny moments in this movie. Could have done without Rob Schneider's part in it, and the "we've all learned something about ourselves" part seemed forced and eye-rollingly bad, but not a terrible movie.

Comedy about five former basketball teammates who gather 30 years after graduating from high school to mourn the passing of their late coach. Dumb, lazy, obvious and largely pointless... like 'The Big Chill' made by morons.

Five tired comic actors (Kevin James, Rob Schneider, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, David Spade, in approximate order of increasing lassitude), in a matchingly washed-out image, assemble for the funeral of their childhood basketball coach, panning for a few grains of middle-aged masculine truth and coming up completely empty, everything strained, forced, formularized into falsity. Not to be mistaken for Mike Leigh's early, hilarious, truthful, and properly punctuated Grown-Ups.

As terribly unfunny as that still-single Uncle who spent 9 years not graduating from college, cannot stop talking about that 1978 high school basketball game where the mascot peed on the cheerleaders, who really wants to get that action screenplay made but keeps running out of funding with each successive girlfriend. You really want to pity him, except your patience has been tried to the fucking limit. And you wish he'd stop sleeping on your couch already.

"Adam Sandler spends more time laughing at jokes than making them in Grown Ups, perhaps the slackest, shabbiest comedy in the star's increasingly dreadful oeuvre." - Nick Schager

Way better than I expected going in. It's light hearted, has a few laughs and is generally pretty harmless and nice. Not an all time classic, but an okay way to spend 100 minutes on a holiday.

K James' backyard pool scene got things off on the right foot. The rest of this movie was one grade school joke followed by another. They had about a 40% success rate with my date and I. None of the main characters were unbearable either (which was a big worry going in). Even Spade stepped up and delivered one or two zingers. Besides James though I found Buscemi's small role to be the next best. Just because this is a grown up movie don't expect an adult storyline from these kids at heart.

Formulaic summer feel-good movie that is not nearly funny enough, or crude enough considering the cast. These once-hilarious comedians have really lost their touch. Sad to see. The exception is Rob Schneider, who has never been funny; so it's no surprise to see him suck approximately as badly in this film as he's sucked in his others.

Lots of toilet humor, exaggerated performance by the actors and unwitty jokes. There are some points to laugh at and since I like Adam Sandler, I don't why, it wasn't that bad.

Sandler, Rock, James, Schneider, Spade... Sly look out, the Comedy Expendables arrive in 'Grown Ups,' and they're just as awful. If three out of your five stars can't sell tickets, throw them together, eat a few sheets of paper and wash it down with a vial of ink, wait for a 'script' to pass, and watch the dollars pour in. 'Grown Ups' happens to be Sandler's laziest film in years. The guys likely had a blast hanging out over a weekend making this film---and the viewers have to suffer for it.

So completely not funny. Bland bland bland. I get it, the actors in movie are friends in real life, but there is nothing more disgusting than actors sitting around laughing at each other's jokes, in character, when nothing funny is being said.

If you and your friends are famous and if you have enough money, you don't need a good script ha. ''Let's just make a movie. It doesn't have to be good.'' I bet those were the last words of Adam Sandler before doing this. I really love those guys in mini-series but sorry this movie's a crap. You should not write anymore Adam. * Casting, Acting : 3 * Script : 1 * Directing, Aura : 1 * Ease of Viewing : 2 * Naked Eye : 2

Grown Ups is pseudo-documentary of a Happy Madison film production. Adam Sandler & friends bring their families out to some filming location that doubles as a decent vacation, and while they're there they film a mediocre broad comedy that will make money on the back of the big name cast.

Schneider quest, film 31: It's a Wednesday evening: it's shitty movie time. It's Barthalen's pick this time, and I guessed it right. "Fuck", I think to myself. As the movie progresses, I'm not enjoying myself. Barthalen, on the other hand, is laughing and farting at times. Odd, because he usually cries during Schneider/Sandler movies. When the movie is done, Barthalen still farts and talks a bit like Sandler. After a few days he's back to normal. But, what the hell happened to him..?

I honestly can't believe how transparent this is. How does Adam Sandler get away with going on vacation for this abortion of a product? It's not just that Adam Sandler is a horrible, talentless hack but he is single-handedly proving that there is an almost troglodyte-like audience who will pay to watch diarrhea on screen and no amount of critical panning can stop them.

A typical Adam Sandler movie. Fart jokes and all these shits. This kind of movie is not brilliant but can provide some fun, even if little. This one has its ups and downs in this sense. Indeed, it seems to have been done with too much lazy.

A loose script simply written to crack various parenting & growing old jokes. Acting seems a lot worse than other Adam Sandler flicks, with Selma Hayek being at the top of the list. That being said, my parents enjoyed the film... so I can only recommend it if you have kids, and haven't seen a comedy since 1994.

What happens when you take the phrase, "I don't want to grow up I'm a Toys 'R' Us kid" too literally. Obnoxious at first, it settles into packing as many predictable cliches as possible creating something of a comfort zone. Salma Hayek and Maria Bello barely make it worth all its efforts.

Fairly funny comedy about 5 friends who try to find their inner youth again after their old basketball coach dies. It has some funny moments, and their picking on each other are very similar to how you do it in real life. But why, why, WHY? Why does good comedy from america always have to be wrapped up in some "Now I've had fun, but I have also learned a valuable lesson in life?" Why can't a movie just be fun, without having to give a moral point of view in the end?

A pretty funny movie. I would have to say that I loved Steve Buschemi in this especially after his accident. "Was the field goal good?" "Hey Y? Where is MCA?" those were some pretty good jokes. I also loved the cup on a string phone under the Grandma's butt that made the farting sound. The big toe jokes were good too. Not to mention the beautiful daughters that Rob Schneider had. wowee. The movie isn't perfect but it does have some big laughs scattered throughout. A nice easy movie to view.

There wasn't anything particularly bad about this movie. The final match-up between the two teams was not really much of the story and that was the whole point of tension in this movie. There were some funny jokes, but the story was just boring. It's not offensive; it just not interesting. I really wish that these guys would get together and make something interesting. They are all funny guys...they just can't be funny on film.
