Polecam.

The premise and really interesting, the story surrounding it, not so much. The acting was pretty mediocre and the pacing was a bit too slow but the effects were really well done. I enjoyed this but I can't say I actually liked it.

A movie about ghosts killing people that is also filled with things that should never be in a movie about ghosts killing people. Anti-gravity research? Eyedrops that let you see the dead? A series of interlocking metadimensional cube structures? Holy balls, there's more nonsensical science here than that time an episode of CSI humped an episode of Fringe. But at least that same nonsense provides some entertainment when the scares are almost non-existent. Stupid, but could be worse.

A swollen melodrama using supernatural horror as a springboard for a sentimental statement on the power of love. A corny film to say the least, although it almost seem to work at times.

First Taiwanese genre film that I've seen and definitely a pleasant surprise. Unlike it's counterparts from Hong Kong, this one takes it's subject matter seriously and doesn't contain any goofy humor/comedic sidekicks to lighten up the mood. It's not particularly scary and does lose some steam towards the end when it starts to resemble traditional genre films. But not enough to diminish the fact that this is a surprisingly stylish and fresh horror/sci-fi hybrid and should be seen by genre fans.
