After the long career of lawman that made him a legend, Wyatt Earp deciedes to quit and join his brothers in Tombstone, Arizona. There he would see them in feud with Clantons, local clan of thugs and cattle thieves. When the showdown becomes inevitable, the help will come from Doc Holliday, terminally-ill gambler who happens to be another Wild West legend. (imdb)

This is a full-blooded, classic Hollywood Western. Leon Uris gets the history all wrong, but never mind! Once the Earps and Doc Holliday begin their long walk toward the OK corral, they stride right into Hollywood history, as American icons.

A pretty decent western.

Not even close to My Darling Clementine, but beautifully shot with one of the all-time great supporting casts - Jack Elam, Olive Carey, Dennis Hopper, Deforest Kelley, etc.

This is a fun western, with a lot of typical 50's things which make it more fun, like the theme song that narrates Wyatt Earp's feelings. The pairing of Douglas and Lancaster isn't quite as exciting as I hoped it would be. Burt really doesn't show the skills he has, so Kirk blows him out of the water as the devious Doc Holliday. Burt's probably the better actor too. I especially loved the small Dennis Hopper role. Only Dennis would turn in something so natural as a western character actor.

The original bromance movie. Very nice use of widescreen, but I suspected more since this is directed by John Sturges. Oh, and young Hopper outshines the hell out of everyone.

Nothing spectacular, but solidly written and directed with excellent use of wide screen.

Ah, DeForest Kelley. This takes me back to the Star Trek episode where the Enterprise's crew is forced to fight at the O.K. Corral. Classic episode. Classic movie.

As fun as it is to watch Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas, I was underwhelmed by this film. It's not bad, but not particularly noteworthy either. I can think of at least two westerns starring Lancaster that are better and it has been awhile since I've seen Tombstone, but I think I liked that take on the OK Corral more.

One of the key creative people (I forget whom) stated afterwards that, regardless of what womenfolk show up or how they look, the real romance in this movie is between Earp and Holliday. I buy this, too. Most of the movie is about this most unlikely friendship, but since our heroes will not flinch at facing bullets but will avoid cries of "fag" at any cost, Fleming and Van Fleet have to show up and conduct most unconvincing affairs -- especially the former. Still a good Western with a fine score

Still probably the best-known version of the story, and even though Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas aren't the best actors for a Western, they're always a good pairing onscreen --Lancaster graceful and reserved, Douglas edgy and coiled. Dimitri Tiomkin's score gives the film a grandiose mood that makes it seem more important than it really is.

A typical bigger production Western with Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas as the big stars. It's not particular bad or poor, just very bland

This movie is not really the story of the Gunfight at the OK Corral, it's more about the bromance between Earp (Bert Lancaster) and Doc Holliday (Kirk Douglas). If you're looking for a movie about the gunfight at the OK Corral, you should look elsewhere.

Has every necessary feature of a classic western. A rousing score, panoramic vistas, gunslingers, Sheriffs, token females and saloon bars.

A larger, more ambitious western than some of the other ones by John Sturges, but also less interesting. It has a good flow but it's pretty heavy on the melodrama, and the smaller scale of films like Bad Day... and Last Train... somehow made them more effective. I also have a serious problem with Burt Lancaster, whose acting has never seemed convincing to me. Watch for a very young Dennis Hopper in a small role, though.

Moves along easy enough, though this pales in comparison to Ford's magnificent My Darling Clementine. That is partly due to the meandering and episodic story and partly due to its starring the two biggest blocks of wood in old Hollywood.

Two terrific leads, but I might just prefer Val Kilmer's Doc Holliday. The actual gunfight does feel climatic.

Lavish production, and a very good Kirk Douglas, are troubled by too many boring subplots and a dull Burt Lancaster.

Tasty visuals. Otherwise stale soap opera.
