Gunmen

I want to hate this movie, but I just can't. Mario Van Peebles is undeniably cool in this film, and Christopher Lambert is one of my all-time favorite actors. I'm going to use the cast as an excuse to enjoy this mediocre action flick.

The acting, like everything else, is all over the place, but if I had to place the blame for failure I'd go with the editing. There's a compelling intrigue film here full of double crosses and tension, but it flows so very badly with cuts that undermine the tension and a lot of moments that seem out of nowhere and don't really make sense. It's the kind of action movie where if you showed a few clips and described the general idea it would sound like fun, but actually watching it is a chore.

I feel kind of weird about liking a terrible straight-to-video movie this much.

Quite simple and entertaining.
