"Kill BIll meets John Wick in the least imaginative way." I couldn't have put it better. The idea is fine but the writing around it is mediocre at best. The cinematography and action does bring it up a bit and it's not that I didn't enjoy myself watching it.

15 years ago, this would have been... still trailing Kill Bill. Yes, it's fun and colourful with great music, and it deserves some credit for casting middle-aged female actors as action stars, but it would have deserved more if it had cast them to... y'know, act in between gunfights. It's a movie that works entirely in animated gifs and still believes a "strong female character" is just someone who can kill people. We've seen many better takes on that, so why do Netflix' algorithms keep us here?

Gillan has great presence, but the director and DOP don't know what to do with fight choreography, and the action scenes lack the quality to make the film superb. The feminism was deliciously shown (look at the cast!) and clumsily told in a few terribly awkward exchanges. Decent action, forgivable writing, tremendous cast; pretty good overall.

Despite an astonishingly strong cast, Gunpowder Milkshake is horrendously written to the extent of being painful at points. There's the Netflix trademark of glitzy style over substance. Moreover the entire film feels incredibly derivative; as in Kill Bill meets John Wick in the least imaginative way. What should have been a fun film is a disappointing mess that inelegantly incorporates the dumbest version of feminism as its central theme. The action is okay. The soundtrack is the best part.

The movie is pretty. But otherwise bland, uninspired and lacks that one special thing to carry it.

Not particularly original, and it has a pretty familiar style, but there are a couple of scenes that were uproariously entertaining. Gillan isn't really impressive, but the supporting actors do a good job coving her. Too much style, not enough substance.

I had a ton of fun with this movie. To me, it feels like a sillier, female version of John Wick. I also heard someone describe it as John Wick with the style of Kill Bill, and I agree with that, although it doesn't take itself as seriously as either. It's got a great cast, a ton of really fun action, some of it especially feeling pretty unique, and the visuals are incredible. I'm definitely interested in a sequel.

"I was watching Kill Bill and thought it'd be cool if the little orphan girl teamed with the same assassin who killed her parent and we put them in a John Wick underworld!" That's what you get; a film that borrows from so many things, including Tarantino, Morricone, Philip Glass, and Oldboy. The main knock is that the dramatic scenes serve as pauses between the action instead of glimpses into these women's lives. Still, the fights & Gillan are engaging enough for a marginal recommendation.

Karen Gillan brought me here but the rest of the film was trying to actively pull me away. A gory, grudge match action film sticking it to the Man not realizing a gory, grudge match action film is inherently in the Man’s playbook. A character throws down Women Who Run With the Wolves in the library, and it struck me as the kind of cloying literate street cred the writer heard about on Instagram but never read, and that as a metaphor for the film as a whole.

Stylish female John Wick. A bit ridiculous at times but entertaining with some funny action scenes.

Whoever did the lighting of the sets is MVP which... probably isn't a great selling point for your all-female John Wick knock off.

Truly one of the worst films I can recall seeing in years. How is it possible to take Nebula and Ruby Roundhouse and make her look like a six stone weakling who just had her first self defence class. The action scenes are just dreadfully shot and/or painfully stupid in their construction. GM is trying so hard to be cool but everything comes across as forced and cringey in comparison to the films it's riffing on, John Wick and Kill Bill in particular. Only Yeoh does herself any justice in this.

This film's script seems heavy borrowed from other films. However the action scenes are so much fun and are a exciting to watch. Karen Gillan is great in the lead role and the rest of the cast seem to be having a blast. Overall I would recommend this film.

Parts of this film are really well planned and executed and then parts are so poorly written that you want to laugh out loud. It never strikes that balance despite admirable performances from Gillan, Headey, Yeoh, Basset and Coleman. It's violent and the fight scenes are typical action style with a few moments that over hype the particular violent incidents. Its a streaming movie for a late night shut off your brain vibe.

B movie that was cringy in spots and a lot of fun in others. Leave brain at door and enjoy yourself. You'll know right away if this is the type of movie for you. 5.8 for me. Some fun kills both slo-mo and reg speed. I enjoy the style of these, but the dialogue could get real bad in spots and the two hours did feel longer than it needed to. Gillan did a good job.

Cool female led action movie, could have been good if it wasn’t typical Netflix trash. Predictably bland film, totally surface level writing. Beautifully lit with epic saturated colours, it’s visually pretty. Jane Wick, but trash choreography.

The actors do a nice job, especially Lena, Michelle and Angela who were my absolute favorites in this one. Karen Gillan just doesn't fill the role of the no-nonsense killer that well and her character is left feeling like a hollow cut-out of every other skilled killer in movies.. except for the fact that the fights just don't look that good. Also, using slow motion at every twist and turn doesn't make every scene look cool. How many times do we need to see characters walking is slow motion?

"Revenge is best served ice cold." Sam was only 12 years old when her mother Scarlet, a hit man, was forced to leave her. Taken in by 'the Firm', the institution Scarlet worked for, she follows in her mother's footsteps and becomes a hit man. When Sam then takes a young girl under her wing, however, things are turned upside down and she has to turn against 'the Firm'.

If there was just a little more I could up this to a good rating, but 65 is fair. It's entertaining and there's enough emotional connection between the girls to be impactful. But some of the action sequences lack oomph, while others have a sufficient amount. That's basically the story of this, some really entertaining segments contiguous with some really hokey parts. Stylish but not stylish enough to mask the deficiencies. I'm a little disappointed because this could have been so much more.

Though I definitely think we've seen this trope done better before, I'm kind of a sucker for these movies. I was pretty excited to see Gillan in another leading kick-ass role, and she definitely didn't disappoint. Though her character was pretty meh. Though the story isn't entirely original, and I think the writing was a bit laughable and weird sometimes, I thought the action scenes were filmed pretty well. Not the best of it's genre, but still pretty entertaining. I give 6 milkshakes out of 10.

Gunpowder Milkshake is a vibrant, all-girl action flick full of energy. It does seem to struggle a bit to contain all of it but, does a decent enough job in turning it into an enjoyable, off-beat take on the new action aesthetics. Good characters, crafty humor, and crazy action sequences to look out for.

Kadınların erkekleri pata pata öldürdüğü 1 action. Annesinin, aniden terk etmesiyle seri katil yetişen güzel kızımız, gittiği görevde istenmemesi kişileri öldürür. Bu arada, para meselesi yüzünden, yanlışlıkla başka kişiyi öldürür. Küçük 1 kız ile macera başlar. Macera hiç bitmiyor. James Bond, John Wick, Charlie's Angels ve Ucuz Roman'ın Milkshake hali. Sıkılmadan izletiyor. Angela Bassett ve Michelle Yeoh tatlı. Filmin sonunda, bütün kızlar toplandık. Bu kız beni sever. Bu kız beni öldürür.

I can't put my finger on why this doesn't work. On paper it's Jon Wick with a great female cast, but the action isn't as tight as Wick for a start and the plot is threadbare. The lighting makes the sets look a little cheap, like it's a BBC TV movie.
