Luchino is a troublemaking girl on her way up to school one morning, as normal denizens of the building join her in the elevator. But she realizes that trouble may be brewing when her unusual psychic power reveals to her that two of the men on the lift are psychotic killers, being transported to another prison level. When the power goes out, the prisoners escape, terrorizing the elevator with no way for the victims to escape. (Yahoo)

If you are willing to look past the annoying first 10 minutes, cheap sets, cheesy lighting, nonsensical plot and horrendous special effects, you might get some twisted sense of fun out of this. Yes, it is deeply flawed, but for a movie with absolutely no budget this Cube-but-in-an-elevator has some decent ideas and a shameless sense of the absurd.

Brainless, no-budget horror but entertaining in its own way. As with a lot of Japanese films it gives up any pretence of cohesive narrative about 3/4 of the way through (to my uncultured Western mind at least).

This kinda starts out as a quirky elevator ride on future Japan and then becomes a weird thing where 2 serial killers are in an elevator with 3 other people and they have to take them out, with the knowledge that any murder, even in self defense, is punishable by death. Then there's some weird psychic bullshit that doesn't make sense and probably happened in the Final Girl's head. The serial killer is unbearable.

There's quite a bit of blood and gore, but not when compared to some of the more extreme straight J-horrors. The plot is pretty straightforward once the movie gets moving. Also, there are a number of plot points which were touched on as significant, but were never completed. But overall, it is original and interesting. Little throwaways like the child's pet brain only add to the fun. Yamaguchi really make the most of their set and the overall shoot. This one will stay with you for a few days.
