Terribly constructed, and there's something really ghoulish about a documentary about a real murderer cribbing shots from Psycho.

Tabloidy 'documentary' full of reconstructions, you know the type. Nothing you couldn't learn in 5 mins on the internet.

'somehow choloroform'd him to death.' Okay. Dispicable. These sorta things are always vaguely fetishistic. It's disgusting. You wanna shower afterward. Tony Jay has to read some batshit narration. Also, the shittily cut out illustrations are kind of egregious. How do edit. Fav transition was the close-in some little girl's face as a train whistle blows. Riddled with the same pseudo-historic exaggerations perpetuated for years regarding the murders, as far back as the original coverage by the hyperbolic yellow journalism of its era. Further, Holmes isn't America's first serial killer, regardless how often it's repeated online, or in tabloid rags and subpar documentaries. A few of the contenders predating Holmes include: The Harpe Brothers, Lydia Sherman (Derby Poisoner), Thomas W. Piper (Belfry Butcher), the Bender Family (Bloody Benders)...

It's a decent enough documentary but it seems to glaze over a lot of facts in favor of "recreations" of certain events. It is interesting, however, and Tony Jay has a fantastic voice.

Another one that's more of an A&E or History Channel show than a documentary, but it's not straight up bad or anything
