MacMurray does comedy surprisingly well, Lombard is wonderful and Bellamy is rather good too. Solid and enjoyable, if unspectacular, screwball comedy.

A fine screwball comedy. This was all about Lombard and Fred MacMurray all young and energetic. Both not really believing in love and would rather find partner with money for convenience. But you know how these things are in the movies. Love prevails. And it's so obvious from the start that it was gonna happen, but that didn't really hurt the romance comedy because the performances by the two was excellent for this kind of story. The chemistry was there and that's the most important thing here.

Old fashion story of love over money, set in 1935 when the depression was in full effect.

They’re both a little awful & I love them. Such great chemistry. Almost didn’t make it through the first 15 min; Ted was a manic pixie dream goober & she was spastic, and Daddy Warbucks creeped me out. But as off the first date between Ted & chicaboo, they started to win me over, and it became super sweet in a demented way. 😂 Definitely rewatchable. These characters are super endearing & surprisingly complex.

Would have wished more of the humour that, at its best, was pretty enjoyable. Well-cast, sympathetic and goes down easy.

I unfortunately didn't find this funny or even that interesting. I like both Carole Lombard & Fred MacMurray but they both fell flat for me here.
