Don Roos deftly weaves together multiple stories to create a sharp, witty look at love, family and the sheer unpredictability of life itself. A feast of buried secrets, missed opportunities and welcome second chances, this wildly original comedy proves that the happiest ending of all is the one you least expect. (Lions Gate Films)

Excellent ensemble piece that avoids the "we-are-all-connected" bullshit of other such urban alienation pieces. Kudrow is fantastic, although everyone else is on target as well.

_The Opposite of Sex_ was fun, but evidently Don Roos is already out of good ideas

Smart ensemble drama, with especially strong turns from Lisa Kudrow and shockingly, Tom Arnold.

Decent enough ensemble comedy drama. But there's something about these sort of films that means I never quite buy it: the sun is always shining, and everyone has a big beautiful house. Still, Maggie Gyllenhaal is smokin' in this.

"Even more irritating than the film's third act triumphs is its lack of faith in moviegoers' intelligence." - Nick Schager

This is definitely a dark film that not everyone would enjoy. There are plenty of funny moments and most of the multiple characters are interesting. The director does a nice job in bringing it all together.

The entire cast of characters, however widely scattered, comes together in a fantasy finale reminiscent of Places in the Heart or Fellini's 8 1/2. Despite that stab at magnanimity, the film doesn't really amount to much, though it whiles away a couple of hours. Roos keeps the tone on the light side, the glib side, the superficial side, the self-conscious and posturing side.

So boring I couldn't get through it even with the hope of a great nude scene!
