Happy Tears

The acting's not the problem, and it's a nice thing to find Moore playing a human-scaled human being, with a recognizable human touch. The material has a hint of it too. But only a hint.

There are moments in this drama which suggest how much better this could have been as a film. The only real issue is that the director Lichtenstein should have pushed the material into a more personal and unconventional direction than it ended up as.

Parker Posey is very good in this movie. Unfortunately the characters are not very believable and sometimes they are annoying. The dream sequences are annoying in this film and they don't really add anything. Overall I would say skip this one.

Replete with quirky indie cliches, Happy Tears wastes some fine performances from Demi Moore, Parker Posey, and Rip Torn on stale formula.
