This came out around the time my baseball team made it to the Little League World Series, so naturally it was awesome back then.....Not so much nowadays.

Basically THE MIGHTY DUCKS with a bit of DANGEROUS MINDS thrown in – if you’re going to go so derivative, this is a pretty well done and well made example, with Reeves’ standard stilted (some might say wooden) delivery meshing well with his likable and charismatic team of kids, which makes the expected moments of despair, disappointment and (spoiler I guess) ultimate triumph achieve the requisite emotional impact. The truncation of the ultimate moment of triumph seems like a strange choice.

These inspirational sports movies are so easy to do, even Keanu Reeves can make it work. It's essentially The Mighty Ducks for urban baseball.

The story was captivating and Reeves actually didn't ruin this with his great acting.

Nope. Reeves proves why he should stick to roles like The Matrix. This calls for warmth and range - difficult for a stone.
