Unlike a lot of horror movies this actually feels like Halloween. You feel October in its core. Great kills. Freaky stuff. Even the usual contrived stuff about trauma works

What makes this work is the twist on the haunted house aesthetic and the rather hilarious traps. The killers themselves actually turn out to be quite weird and creepy. There is just enough suspense here that makes it better than most horror films of this sub genre. Unfortunately the last 30 minutes feels rushed and very contrived but overall it is still entertaining.

If getting fondled by townies while you try to jumpstart your heart through shock scares isn't your idea of a good time, you'll still probably be able to connect to the idiocy of getting butchered in one of these houses. Lots of comparisons to Hellhouse LLC but if you're looking for the most quality version of this, I'd recommend the second season of Channel Zero, No-End House.

Featuring very solid performances by the whole cast & especially standout work from Katie Stevens as the lead as well as the "Monsters", all of whom shined in their roles, it starts out iffy & rough but works its way into being an extremely surprising & fun slasher with interesting characters & an intriguing story. Twists, turns, brutal deaths & a spooky atmosphere combine to create a final product that's much better than it perhaps had any right to be. Very worth a watch.

Underseen and therefore underrated. Unfortunately this was released with presumably very little marketing, because if more people had been aware of it, I'm sure teens would have made this the start of a franchise. W/ the kind of fantastic premise that I've never seen done before (teens visit a modern amusement style haunted house), this is constantly creepy and suspenseful since every new "scare" may or may not end badly. The "evil" is also horrifying & the ending is a thrill

A dumb little film with an undeserved and quite frankly inexplicable high rating in Rotten Tomatoes.

I liked it. The first 30 minutes are quite good, really tense and genuinely scary; a lot of shit starts happening afterwards, some things i liked, some i didn't. Overall a pretty decent horror film, and pretty good for its specific genre (slasher), which has literally the lowest standards of, basically, any genre.

the designs of the haunted house rooms were great and helped make it creepier. I particularly liked the white sheet and knives rooms

I really didn't like this one. Neither did I think the extreme haunted house was anything special from the start or that it any other development was good or interesting.

I love a movie where teens go to a haunted house/carnival. Scratches a nice itch for me. I also love when there is killers in it for almost no particular reason except to kill. Both notches in favour for this one.

Real killers in a Haunt is not a trope I like so this kind of fell flat for me. Plus the ending was kind of dumb.

"Haunt" doesn't really excel at anything, but it competently takes familiar elements from other horror movies and puts them together without feeling boring, or trope-heavy. It's a decent horror movie, worth a watch, especially in October.

Decent more recent horror. Mostly suspenseful but second half does get a little graphic.

A solid low budget Slasher film in 2019? Haunt takes the strengths of Hellfest, improves them, and overcomes it’s weaknesses. The characters are pretty good, the house is imaginative and claustrophobic, and the film isn’t too predictable. Even though it’s violent at times, it doesn’t rely on gore either, in fact most of the kills are a bit lackluster. My main criticism would be a certain character who’s built up but ultimately isn’t as important as they should’ve been.

Decent build up, disappointing pay off. Feels like it was filmed of a very rough first draft script.

You know it's bad when it doesn't stack up favorably beside HAUNTEDWEEN! Poor execution of an awful script with a generic concept. I am completely baffled by the mostly positive reception

It's a good slasher movie but the premise does seem to be stretched thin in 90 minutes. Most of the kids backstory stuff was overly (and pointlessly) melodramatic and the haunted house itself was interesting but overly complicated for what the villains were trying to accomplish. They could have killed all these kids in the first few rooms of the haunted house so why go to the trouble of such an elaborate scheme. The only answer is "because it's a movie" as they aren't given any other motivation

More a escape room horror than haunted house, of course, kind of mixing Rob Zombie-esque freaky characters with some well-known tropes (trauma as something that prepares you for any kind of horror; human face as a mere piece os skin hiding ugly things; oh, the villains are Leatherface fandom using Purge masks). Not so engaging on a shot-by-shot basis, but there are some nice stuff here -- face peeling. Cheap, chilling and fast-paced little horror to kill some time during quarantine.

Pretty annoying characters and story doesn't make any sense. No explanation whatsoever and the ending is lame. Despite that it had a few ok deaths. It's not like I didn't enjoy it though, cause it's a simple slasher horror.

Genuinely scary imo, partially because the protagonists generally act with intelligence. I prefer suspense and fear over blood and gore though, so while probably not excessively gory for the average horror fan, it is a bit much for me. Definitely not a regrettable watch, but for that reason, I probably won't revisit. ... And also because of the spiders.
