Creepy atmosphere, but too convoluted for what is a 50 minute movie - they could've trimmed this to 15 minutes and it would still have been the same movie.

The sound design was great, too bad it was so dark you really couldn't see anything.

A guy wakes up in a cramped concrete labyrinth with no memory and a bleeding abdominal wound. As he struggles through tight corridors, he eventually encounters a similarly injured woman and they attempt to escape together. The claustrophobia is palpable as Tsukamoto shoots the whole thing in extreme closeup, the greasy walls always pressing in at the edges of the frame. There's some hazy hallucinogenic visuals, and the ending beautifully explains everything without a word. Great stuff.

Top badass moment? Me, sitting through it. Oh. My. Goodness. That was abysmal. Endless extra-shaky shakycam in near total darkness, whilst a random guy groans a lot and occasionally makes stupid comments that only go to demonstrate that not everyone should be provided with a brain and a life. A candidate for one of the worst films ever made. Straight off to Music Magpie with it! No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

It isn't quite what it seems, which is unfortunate, because it's initially disturbing and unknowable in a way that horror often attempts but never quite captures.
