Jack Moony, a white cop, has it in for a black lawyer to the drug crowd, Napoleon Stone. That Stone is now dating his ex-girlfriend doesn't help matters at all. Stone is shot after Moony suffers a heart attack and wakes to find that he not only has a new heart, but that it is Stone's and that Stone's ghost is now his constant companion. Stone is insistent that Moony not only take care of his heart now but that Moony solve his murder. (imdb)

Here is a Denzel Washington movie you didn't see. Having watched this movie 30 years ago, I can only remember the scene where Bob Hoskins has to check to make sure that in addition to Denzel Washington's heart during surgery, he also didn't get his genitalia. I bet this was way funnier on the written page and not even Bob Hoskins could make this scene work.

It's sort of a Thorne Smith with a social conscience -- a teeth-rattling contradiction in terms. (Very sensible final shootout, however, with the invisible spirit acting as scout and lookout for the beleaguered cop.) The admirable actors, Hoskins and Washington, do not increase our enjoyment so much as our sympathy.
