Didn't feel special, like it was lacking a distinct identity. I was reminded of better movies like Patti Cake$ from last year or Sing Street from 2 years ago, but with less heart, less memorable music, and less heart. Oh and also, the daughter's name is Sam Fisher, which is the name of the Splinter Cell protagonist... that's all.

A very enjoyable feel-good dramedy about a father and daughter (not) starting a band. The relationship between Nick Offerman and Kiersey Clemons is believable, the supporting cast is strong, and I really liked the music.

It's grotesque that the movie proclaims that music is dying just to fight that with Sportify product placement and a "fine" pop song. Yes, this movie is aggressively fine. Fine acting, fine images, even gentrified NYC looks fine here. In just 90 minutes this movie was still too long while being bloated with unnecessary storylines about grandmothers, bar owners, and landlords. Oh yeah, and in a real movie that daughter-father-relationship would've been traumatic and abusive but here it's: fine.

The music is warmed over teeny-bopper rhythm, though the title song still works to an extent over the 3 times it's used. And my philosophy is live and let live, but the LGBTQP community just doesn't see it that way. This is an ambush plain and simple--and sooner or later these films are going to start hurting the Indie industry. Keep it up front and everybody will be happy, well not everybody, but....

Offerman’s great in this, but it was surprisingly scattershot and kind of a slog. There is, however, a Toni Collette karaoke number, so you take the good with the bad.

A perfectly nice film with passable music and performances that anchor the story.

Charming father-daughter story filled with enough delight, realness and likable characters that you won't regret not starting a band.

A sweet, safe, feel-good dramedy, HEARTS BEAT LOUD rises on the indie pop earworms performed by its father-daughter duo. It's also a nice commentary on the creative process, shown here in all its nose-to-the-grindstone glory, which I appreciate more than movies where masterpieces seem to emerge fully-formed from a single spark of inspiration. Beyond the music, the rest of the film is very familiar and specifically targets the hipster community for whom this may well become a nostalgic classic.

It may be a bit safe, but Hearts Beat Loud does its feel-good schtick better than most and with more staying power.

Hard to imagine anyone turning down a record deal to delay med school by one year. Also, the music isn't that good.

I could have gone my whole life without seeing this and I would have been the same off, cause I'm gonna forget all about it come Tuesday.

Quite predictable, but an easy-to-watch feel good movie. Songs are pretty good, so music fans will enjoy the film.

This is a cute film that has a predictable script but it is still worthwhile. The actors all do a good job with the material. Overall I would recommend this film.
