Blanchett and Ribisi give absolutely fascinating performances in this simple, tasteful film; beautiful.

An unexpected pleasure. A film that begins by framing itself as a thriller, but one that slowly moves away from conventional plot developments until it becomes something else altogether - an existential love story that explores issues of justice, guilt and redemption. Both Blanchett and Ribisi give quietly powerful performances, and the understated musical score gives the film a languid, bittersweet atmosphere.

Stunning cinematography and music. Kieslowski's story's got lots of layers and both leads do their job nicely, though they are not the ordinary love couple. Leaves very pleasent and a hint of sad feeling in the end; what could a man do aganist a society.

Blanchett's delicate, commanding performance is reason enough to watch 'Heaven'. Fortunately, Tykwer handles the tones and poignancy of the script in surprisingly revelatory way.

Cate Blanchett is a national treasure. Not of my country but of a country, certainly. The first half hour or so where she's being interrogated is off the hook. She's so good. I'm not entirely sure why Phillipa and Filippo end up being mirror images of each other. Like I'm not saying that it's a bad, but I just don't get it. Anyways, this movie is worth seeing just for the stuff up until and including the escape. Top notch.

I have never met anyone else who has seen this film. I try to explain that it has Blanchett and Ribisi in it, and then I end up having to explain who Ribisi is.

Very much a Kieslowski film, despite his passing before he had the chance to direct it on his own. A very subtle and beautiful examination of morality and its ambiguities, as well as a graceful romance, with a fantastic score and gorgeous photography.

The cinematography and acting were both very good. However, the plot was implausible and there wasn't much chemistry between the main characters.

I avoided this at first because I didn't want to see someone else messing up Kieslowski's work. After seeing some other Tom Tykwer films, however, I decided to give it a shot, and I'm pleased. It's pure Kieslowski. Kieslowski's typical moral ambiguity and quiet philosophical reflection are there in full, as are the perhaps-too-clever-for-their-own-good touches (e.g., Philippa/Filippo). A lovely film and thoughtful.

Even though Blanchett and Ribisi don't quite convince me as a romantic couple, the overall athmosphere and the beautiful cinematography make this worth watching. Tykwer knows how to tell a story, it's got that same eerie vibe that made Perfume so beautiful.

A Kieslowski script, but not Kieslowski direction. It could have been so much more. Still, there is much there.

Gorgeous film. Once again, Tykwer creates a film that truly manages to FEEL different. The almost ethereal tone is carried by the two leads who both give fantastic, unstated performances. The ultimate reason for the unique atmosphere, however, is the cinematography. Go to town analyzing this film, or just enjoy the philosophical undertones carried in a beautiful vehicle.
