Heaven Adores you

I don't listen to as much Elliot Smith as I should, so all I know is that he was a sad motherfucker, and this posthumous bio-doco captures that same sadness. Very good for a Kickstarter documentary, with a focused narrative and some delightful imagery of the Portland city, this is a rockumentary that has all the standard rock story points (shy main man, drug use, isolation, suicide) but is told in a way to not make it seem so standard and familiar.

Definitely was trying for the happy-go-lucky tale of events. Deliberately leaving out key information, can't help but feel the director was just a bit too close to the source material here. Maybe less shots of the scenery and a more realistic account.
