The most wholesome death metal movie since How Grünnr Got His SküllKrüshrr Back.

Since metal isn't that represented it's always nice to see a movie about it. If you understand the clichés and tropes of metal then there are some good jokes here, but they are few and far between. It doesn't really hit satisfying emotional depths and since there isn't a lot of comedy to bail it out it ends up being a pretty fun but ultimately insubstantial little flick about a culture that your average person doesn't care to indulge in.

A must watch for any metal fan who would like to see it cast in a good light. It was a pretty fun movie, not a mile a minute laugh type, but the black comedy type that's just as Scandinavian as black metal.

It hits familiar beats, but combining quirky antics, slapstick, and death metal into one pot proved to be watchable and likable.

A comedy that wears its heavy metal theme on it's leather jacket but still has enough heart to say something about friendship, bravery and camaraderie. The metal setting is cleverly used and referenced to make the movie feel fresh. Not all jokes hit as high as they could but the charming cast make up for it.

A charming comedy about an aspiring Finnish death metal group, with many loving jokes and references for fans of the genre (and a surprisingly good original song). Non-metalheads should find plenty to enjoy as well, even if some of the broader jokes and side characters fall a bit flat.

Funny business. Lots of funny gags with reindeer and vikings thrown in for good measure.

Being a metal fan certainly helps with watching and laughing at this movie. It's got some decent jokes and the whole northern small town feel is real. It's a little bit too long to feel as effective as it could have been had it been a bit more compact. Still, I enjoyed it, the characters were all memorable and I'd also like to arrive to a metal music festival on a viking boat.

I expected an exotic comedy movie that could be only made in the metal-headed part of Europe, but instead I got a bland and formulaic music comedy movie. But there were some good jokes here and there.

While Hevi Reissu does evoke some kind of sense of nostalgia for a Finn who grew up much in a similar rustic country village - so does 99% of other Finnish movies. This kind of slaphazard buddy farce has been done to death in Finland.

If strip out exotic location, language ? pretty basic & formulaic comedy + often comic book logic/unreality & oblig love rivalry. As if (may BE) Finnish film students on limited $ did Spinal Tap 'homage'. Harmless tho. Some laughs. Amiable, sympathetic lead. Some funny supporting cast (Bassist + drummers), others NOT & = poor versions of cliche (Cop + Norway Border Gs). Helps if U like/can stand screechy heavy metal ? (12th of runtime apprx) BEST BITS: Mop Solo + transport 2 Festival

Charming movie you want to like, but unfortunatley most jokes fall flat.
