Heavyweights

The plot is nothing special (gee, I wonder if they'll win the competition with the jocks across the lake?), but there are some laughs to be had, especially from Stiller, playing basically the same character he would do later in Dodgeball.

Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the fattest, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!

Just a joy of a movie - so good yet my adult brain had forgotten it's most human moments. There's a sequel to be had, like the second half of IT, where now adults, a CEO, a rapper (not Keenan, more likely the most Jewish one), and the President of the U.S. (British) all find themselves called to Camp Hope where, despite their best efforts, an evil Ben Stiller still lurks, devouring the fattest boys in camp for sustenance. "Hey there, Little Tony. How do you feel? Bad? Why Bad?..."

Quite likely the greatest film of all time. "Did you ever hear the story of Icarus, who continually rolled the ball up the hill? But when he got too close, the ball melted in the heat of the Sun. You're all like Icarus."

Performance of a lifetime from Stiller, he later plays the same exact character in Dodgeball. "Congratulations, you've just joined the 76% of Americans who forget to stretch before doing any physical activity."

Yes! FINALLY a movie in which the obese kids rise up and violently oppose those who would make them "physically fit", as though we don't all see that for the sham it truly is. VIVA LA REVOLUCION

Although it may not have any of the underlying themes or symbolism most great movies have, Heavy Weights is simply too funny not to like.

Childhood classic.

This is a fun kind of bad kids movie to watch if for nothing more than Stiller's performance (which is worth the watch).

"Heavyweights"(1995), staring Ben Stiller as the crazy lead counselor at a camp for overweight youths is a healthy sized portion of family fun. Featuring a surprise amount a familiar faces in their younger days, the movie is a 90's kid's cult-classic.

40 points for the amount of minutes I managed to watch.

Maybe its nostalgia speaking, but this movie is one of the best of Disneys 90's live action films, in which Ben Stiller stars as one of his most memorable characters to date.

Meatballs-y. Ben Stiller does a special kind of crazy in his movies which I love. I've been going to summer camp for 9 years now (camper and counselor) so I have a soft spot for these kinds of films.

Though I haven't seen this one in years, it was one of the few live action kids movies that I legitimately liked growing up. It's probably worth at least one viewing just for the simple fact that a film made up of overweight protagonists would never get made today. Well, that and evil Ben Stiller... everybody loves evil Ben Stiller.

I love this move.

Oddly enough, Stiller carries the movie. Jeffrey Tambor is hilarious in the few scenes he gets.

The kids are a mixed bag in terms of being funny or having decent performances. Stiller absolutely crushes it in what may be his funniest role.

Ben Stiller is pretty perfect in this. It's just a very silly and somewhat grotesque film.

Pretty fun comedy. Stiller makes a great villain and many of the kids are funny. The ending is the same as every other underdog-kids camp film. I never went to camp. I wonder if there was always a field day vs. a rival camp that was either way more or way less athletic than themselves.

There's a good movie in here centering around Stiller's disturbed villain, but too often it's just a straight camp movie about lovable losers.

I remember liking this, and I have a feeling I still would.

Alright, I guess I was the only asshole who found this somewhat amusing. Pretty underrated kid's flick.

It probably wouldn't slide today, but it's one of the best comedies I've seen. Stiller and Hodges make for some funny stuff, and there's lots of really outlandish crack-up moments balanced with a lot of nice moments with good messages. Really love this one.

Okay movie, didn't Stiller play the same character in Dodgeball?

As far as "camp" movies go, this is one of the better ones, and it has a few genuine laughs.

Ben Stiller's best movie!

Seen: 3+?. I saw it more than once as a kid. 25 or so years later... Ben Stiller is an absolute blast and saves an otherwise surprisingly stale movie.

I do not even remember who had seen this movie, and by chance saw a piece on TV. It is a funny and entertaining film, especially for children.

Endearing movie as a kid, time waste as an adult.
