Near the end of the film there's a very suspenseful moment as Linda Blair needs to retrieve a rifle that the presumably dead villain has dropped. She slowly descends a staircase as the tension begins to feel palpable and creeps closer and closer to the gun until it is nearly within reach. Gently lowering her body she begins to extend her arm closer and closer to the rifle and then I got up, left the room and refilled my drink because this movie had already lost me.

Kills were pretty lame and I'm surprised they didn't make better use of Linda Blair's talent Disappointing that she was a "wimpy " final girl Most ironic scene one kid manages to escape to get help and the cops don't believe him

A very formulaic horror flick about a group of horny teenagers spending a night in a spooky old mansion as part of a fraternity initiation. Doesn't do anything you wouldn't expect but does it all fairly competently. Linda Blair doesn't show off her lovely jubblies though. 'One Dark Night' a couple of years later was essentially the same thing with Blair replaced by Meg Tilly and a telekinetic zombie thrown into the mix, and is thus a better film.

There were a few fun moments and decent shocks, but not enough. The pacing was terrible (the movie could easily be 20 minutes shorter), the characters were stupid and unlikeable (and the film didn't have the tongue-in-cheek humor to make them at least interesting), and because the story is so confusing and half-baked, it never delivers any genuine scares.

Probably leans more into indifferent than liked but I think there’s just enough there for a guy that likes stupid teens getting chased around a house/area/etc. a bit of a slog to get going and the characters in this one are cardboard. Not a single interesting thing about anyone. Manages to build suspense pretty well tho once it gets going. Great use of the spooky mansion location. Lots of shadows and hidden areas to scare.

This was a decent middle of the road monster/slasher film.

Way better set up than payoff. Loved the setting a lot. Some fun provided by Linda Blair

Let's enter this abandoned mansion after breaking this huge lock. Oh look, there are dozens of candles already lit inside. Nobody ask why, let's just casually move along.

Noite Infernal estreava há 40 anos nos EUA. Hoje estou com baixa tolerância para bobagens. Meh. Box Versátil Slashers Volume 2.

Its sole saving grace is a solid performance by Blair that, sadly, gets worse over time. Poorly written, poorly directed, poorly put together & for the most part very poorly acted, it's also a boring slog that feels even longer than its extremely stretched 101 minutes. The killer isn't interesting or frightening in the slightest, the characters are largely paper-thin & annoying, & the ending is a convoluted mess. It gets points for having a fun premise, but nothing else. A disappointing dud.
