Movie soundtrack done by someone’s 13 year old loser kids spotify playlist. Milla will keep you going through this hellish (lol) slog. Really tired of Ian McShane’s schtick, that cocksucker is the head of every secret organization in every movie.

I don't fully shit on movies too often, so this one needs be made an example of. We are not getting the third Del Toro Hellboy movie for this? THIS? The facial prosthetics for Harbour looked plastic. Sarcasm doesn't work if every character in the movie is using it! NONE of these quips or one liners hit home. The theater was dead silent. The monsters were uninspired and generic wannabe del toro cgi trash. Their hint at a sequel was the first time I laughed. Actor choices were also awful. F-

I think this might actually be a new low. Not just in terms of movies, but culturally.

The new Hellboy reboot is poor. Imagine everything that made the Guillermo del Toro Hellboy movies stand out and have all of that sucked out into a bloody gore-fest with crappy characters and everything feeling cheap as a result. You get a movie that feels like all gore no substance to it. Having gore is not necessarily a bad thing. It's the one thing this Hellboy reboot has going for it, but if you care about the plot, the characters, or the production side of things, then don't bother at all.

I really don't think this is the shit show people are making it out to be. It has issues, especially with the lack of good affects, but Harbour is a good Hellboy, he isn't Perlman, but I wasn't expecting that. It does feel unnecessary because it covers the same stuff the previous films did. You can make a case that all the gore and entertaining action is made at the expense of a good story. I think if you have certain expectations set, it's not bad. I really wouldn't mind a sequel.

Now would be the time -- more so than any other time before it -- to just shut your brain off and consume popcorn entertainment. Just have fun. And if you commit to just having fun with this movie, chances are, that's what you'll have. Too many people I think committed to hating this from the jump because of the casting. I think that's unfair; though it lacks the polish and quality of the earlier Hellboy movies, it's far from the 0-ranked "cultural abomination" that others have labelled it.

Perlman owned his version of "Hellboy" and while Harbour makes an admirable effort, he's just not the same, and I found the make-up to be somewhat klunky at times, but perhaps that's due to Harbour's wider face. This reboot is still a fun ride, but it just doesn't seem to hold against the more grand feeling predacessors. Why reboot something that was still going strong? That's what happens when execs can't get their shit together and put up the money to make things happen.

The same stupid, unedifying, gory nonsense that Neil Marshall has been peddling since DOOMSDAY. It almost makes Snyder's SUCKER PUNCH look subtle by comparison, but if you like a ridiculous plot, terrible acting, on-the-nose one-liners and hit-and-miss-go-broke-or-go-home-CGI with various monsters from Del Toro's basement room cutting floor, you could do worse. That said, it looks like we can now safely assume that claustrophobic thrill ride THE DESCENT was the outlier.

Impossible not to draw comparisons with Del Toro's films and HB 2019 falls short in every single one. The low budget production and cheesy acting/line delivery make it look like a gory, full length Doctor Who episode, but it's not as fun as that may initially sound. There's also an even worse shoehorning of the Arthurian Legend into the narrative than Transformers: Last Knight. It's fair to say a few ideas, character and set designs work well but they are wasted in this franchise killing effort.

Far from perfect, but Harbour, the pacing and Marshall's no-holds-barred approach made this a more refreshing cocktail for me than del Toro's more polished Hellboy films.

There are some kickass action sequences throughout, and it's great for viewers looking for the promised visual feast, but an overabundance of exposition and contrived plotlines make this a disappointment otherwise.

Del Toro's films were flawed, but at least characters had arcs. This (re)incarnation of Hellboy is gratuitous in every way; the language, violence, set pieces, number of characters and the acting. Harbour and McShane make some of it work, and I enjoyed the film when they did. Kim and Lane's patchy English accents were distracting. The CGI & costumes looked like they came out of a 90's TMNT film, as did the plot. Disappointing; it was neither as fun nor as interesting as it could have been.

The actors did their best, but the story is too unfocused because it feels like 3-4 different scripts mashed into one. And that alone drags the whole movie down The majority of the action and creatures is the expected rigmarole of (bad/average) CGI overload, yet the splatter bits (everything related to the apocalypse) are surprisingly fun.

True, this movie is mostly awful. Harbour plays Hellboy fairly well for the most part but the emotional scenes are way too hammy, and his inner conflict felt extremely forced. Too many storylines are crammed into one movie, leading to horrendous exposition and pacing. The effects are crap, the humor almost never works, and most characters are too unlikable. So is anything positive? I like the sets, character designs, music, and the Baba Yaga scene was good, but couldn't save the movie.

They should have cut out the scenes with the worst animation and green screen (like the giants fight) and spent more on the rest, and deleted most of the flashbacks. Any Resident Evil or even Underworld is so much better looking, and more entertaining for I think the same amount of money.

Listen, I'd preferred a third Del Toro/ Pearlman team up as much as anyone else, but this wasn't as horrible as it's been made out to be. It may lack the charm and heart of it predecessors, but taken for what it is, it's an enjoyable enough piece of ultraviolet schlock with some pretty cool creature and set design.

Well, I liked the trailer song which I did not point out from the movie. The giant fight was nice, and some bits here and there though I'm not sure if I want to see it again. Sure the story was a mish-mash but I enjoyed some parts. One-liners were terrible.

"Hellboy" is quite enjoyable for me. Plot-wise and character-wise the movie holds its ground. The creatures are creative with added backstory. The jokes are fun and light, far better than (for example) Marvel's humorous remarks. That said, "Hellboy" sometimes looks like its a low-budget film, but still not such a big issue. I would definitely see a trilogy with the same cast, director and writers.

Some nice digital splatter scenes here and there -- the monster of apocalypse destroying human bodies after Hellboy possesses Excalibur, for example -- but everything is just dumb expository scenes and clumsy myth-making through self-aware jokes that never land and a narrative without any sense of suspense, surprise or wonder. What a mess.

Except for 1 surprise, the 1st hour - w/ its 1-note hero, blah jokes, complete lack of stakes & decision to use "badass" rock music as a score is as uninteresting as action movies come. But just when you're about to fall asleep, Hellboy, being a monster himself, begins to question whether it might not be a better strategy to not go around killing them all. It also features creatures worthy of Del Toro production design (esp Baba Yaga) & finally gives us a reason to care about what Hellboy does.

Editing by crackheads. 'Boy's prosthetic arm is bad. Production design is good. CGI is inconsistent. Story is generic. Script is poor. Plenty of embarrassing ADR. The chief reason this is so boring is that the audience is never given an opportunity to invest in anything that's happening on screen before the next scene happens. A competent editor could probably have made something watchable out of the available footage.

Jesus, somehow the CGI is worse than 2004. Total mismatch of tone with the (enjoyably) brutal deaths when hell opens up and how low the stakes feel for the rest of the film, even when it's about the end of the world. Harbour and McShane deserve better.

Fun reboot can't match Del Toro's visual style, but takes the character's style and mythos much less seriously, helped by Marshall's signature droll presentation of graphic violence in abundance! Refreshingly goes "hard-R" with its violence and mayhem; while it can't escape a typically noisy and cluttered action finale, the cast makes up for it, with wisecracking Harbour an improvement on Perlman and Jovovich a hissable villain.

It is a shame that instead of continuing the already started Hellboy series they had to go the reboot route. This film has some good moments but it pales in comparison to the other Hellboy films. Overall this movie is disappointing.

If Guillermo del Toro's version of Hellboy is the imaginative grand symphony, this version is the discordant heavy metal little brother. Don't bother unless you are a major fan of the comics or the actors and simply HAVE to see it. Even then, you might want to consider steering clear as it could taint your love for these.

As far as comic book films go, it's even worse than Spawn, which means it ranks among the all-time worst. It's such a misfire that it's actually increasing my appreciation for Marvel's assembly line blandness. Bad makeup, tacked on rock score, fake attitude, poor CGI, lame jokes etc. The list goes on. There are a few passable action sequences, but it's a chronically underfunded, ugly, overlong and messy reboot that nobody asked for, and Harbour isn't a patch on Perlman.

This was such a dumb plot, made worse by the fact that I kept waiting for some twist or new layer or somefuckingthing to elevate it slightly from the dumbness. Alas that was not to be. Harbour just had a vibe like a tired and middle-aged biker and never felt dangerous. Baba Yaga was pretty cool, though.

I'm just not sure why they made this. I like a lot of the actors in it, but the story doesn't justify bringing Hellboy back to the cinema. When you look back at the Del Toro movies they had a unique style and great monster effects, the effects here are embarrassing in places.

A quite decent fantasy movie and certainly better than the movie from 2004. It's a petty it failed at the cinema. The reason for the flop is probably that the movie only wants to serve a very specific audience: Fantasy and comic book fans, but they are served really well. We have an interesting main character, interesting antagonist, Arthurian legends and a curious fantasy world. Everything I wish for on a Friday night. Highly recommended if you belong to the targeted audience. Skip otherwise.
