Hellions

You know it's a Canadian horror movie when there are several dramatic scenes of maple syrup being spilled. "Hellions" is all over the place at times, and I'm still not sure what I'm supposed to think happens at the end, but at least its biggest failure is trying too hard rather than not hard enough, and it looks quite good doing it.

Interesting, creepy, weird, confusing, boring. Hellions is a fantastic example of a movie that just doesn't live up to to its interesting premise.

Interesting visually with nice photography, set designs and costumes. But the writing and acting are weak and it's not particularly scary.

The failure of Hellions is that there was never a moment of even insinuated clarity to start the plot - why is what's happening even happening? Because it never started a real story, there was nowhere to go, no finish, and no reason to watch it outside of a pretty fuchsia Instagram filter. It tries really hard every other step of the way, which makes watching it that much more painful.

Pretty good. Not super scary, but pretty creepy throughout. Good acting, and most importantly, it moves along at a really good clip and is at no point boring. A pretty original take on the satanic pregnancy film.

Weird but kind of interesting movie. After seeing a lot of crappy movies that one came as a beautiful relief. Maybe the whole it is not that neat but at the end you have the impression of have been seeing a lot of interesting ideas on the screen.
