Flipping through the Hamilton High year book and getting a good chuckle out of their most likely to be Michael Ironside entry.

Makes very little sense, and seems to have learned everything it knows about film making from Bonnie Tyler videos. But it's so ludicrously over the top that it actually kinda works. Like one huge, sickeningly sweet, pastel-coloured cake of murder.

Learns from its predecessor by spreading the horror evenly and lays it on thick. Lisa Schrage has a classy chassis and all the retro 50's references were fat city. Passion Pit baby.

Prom Night kinda stunk. Like most early slashers it was really just giallo in shitty clothes; the second one makes a half-hearted effort to jump on the Jason/Freddy/Shape supernatural slasher bandwagon. It succeeds in market analysis, but it mostly just sucks.

Where to start ? So ignore film title if you're looking for follow up to the original it won't happen Scorched ( LITERALLY) Prom Queen's ghost possesses present day Prom Queen candidate or something like that ? Plot makes no sense to me and if your looking for gore forget it and I hated the ending But what it has going for it are some pretty cool special effects now to quote the movie; "See ya later alligator "

The locker room scene. I could pontificate on why I found this to be better than the original or how it has horror merits worth witnessing, but I think I'll just say locker room scene. The locker room scene.

Related to its predecessor only in name, Prom Night II boasts a crazy mixture of horror elements to go along with its silly name. A little bit of slasher mixed with The Exorcist along with a lot of Carrie gives a pretty entertaining ride. The editing and acting are often a bit rough in parts, but I found myself having quite a good good time.

This unrelated "sequel" to the 1980 slasher "Prom Night", although center on a prom, is more parts "Carrie"(1976) with the telekinetic powers, and parts "The Exorcist"(1973) with the possession and religious elements, instead of just being a slasher. However, this weird, dark, fun "sequel" is maybe closer to "A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge"(1985) with its quasi-possession, body-swap ghost world, teenage revenge driven, telekinetic demon spirit story, but just not as gay.

This movie gets a lot of hate but I actually enjoyed this cheesy b-movie.

Was this shot on video? The version I watched (on Shudder) looked like a VHS rip. Anyway this has nothing to do with the original, in plot or in spirit. Where the original was straightforwardly Halloween derived and competently made, this sequel is clearly inspired by Elm Street, and much more ambitious and original if somewhat bumbling in it's realization.

Just ignore the fact that this is called Prom Night II. It's completely unrelated and a much more interesting film than Prom Night. The surface-level plot is a big bundle of cliches but there is a ton of creativity on display during the horror moments and they are all so much fun. It isn't scary, creepy, or even tense, but it is highly entertaining.

Unfortunately takes an Exorcist religious angle at times, but overall it was a fairly enjoyable movie. Some great horror scenes in this one and the acting isn't bad. Near the end, a dude is killed by his possessed Macintosh Plus.

Generic 80's slasher. Michael Ironside is in this but this is one of his bad films. Very bad. This movie has nothing redeeming at all except some boobs. So really if boobs are a redeeming quality then maybe this movie has something for you. If boobs are not a redeeming quality then this movie has nothing for you.

Surprisingly creepy quasi-sequel with a good cast and some awesome moments.

It's ridiculous. It's stupid. Parts of it make little to no sense. It has no business calling itself a sequel. But, it's also sort of amazing. The characters are enjoyable, the heroine is likeable, the kills (when they start) are fun, Mary Lou is a damn good horror villain, & the third act features some very fun effects. It has many glaring flaws that hold it back, but it's also genuinely more fun & much more interesting than the original. If you can handle the zaniness of it, give it a watch.

Filled with "homages" that at times cross the line to outright stolen scenes. Still it contains a few memorable gory scenes. Not related to Prom Night at all, this one is slightly better.

Tbh this movie kinda ruled; blending influences of contemporary teen horror / slasher movies, Carrie, even a healthy splash of The Exorcist. Tons of clever & creepy visuals, incessant unsettling score, quotable lines. Loved the LEAD showing off her tits and snatch, a duty normally reserved for side characters in 80s teen horror. In fact Wendy Lyon was robbed of 1987 Best Actress Oscar, who tf cares about Cher. Only slightly undermined by gratuitous “final scare” stinger, a bad 80s horror habit.
