Hell's Half Acre

Corey isn't a top tier noir lead, but he always does a decent job and this is no different. He's sympathetic enough when he has to be but believable as a somewhat shady character, balancing a complex character even if he never imbues the it with anything special. Evelyn Keyes is maybe a bit better, though her character is more one note. The film lives and dies on the twists and turns of the plot, and while it has a few false steps it mostly makes for a fun time with a couple of nice surprises.
