Brannagh's passion for the source material breathes in every single frame of the film, as well as in his intense, energetic performance.

As close to what the Bard might have intended as we're gonna get. Branagh is a master.

Whether intentionally or not, the heroic epic poetry of The Bard juxtaposed with Branagh's realistically gritty and violent aesthetics injects a sense of absurdity and misguided patriotism to the play - but not enough to diminish the impact of the St. Crispin's Day Speech.

Obviously a labor of love, this is a funky, mud-spattered alternative to the mannered "Book of the Hours" technicolor of Olivier's WW II version. Branagh acts and directs well (although I thought his Harry a little short on charisma), and an excellent cast enriches and deepens the film's world.

A good adaptation full of passion and well acted, but I can't say it ever really moved or captivated me.

Slow. But that's not the movie's fault. It's a well done version of one of the more interesting of Shakespeare's histories. I keep to the comedies and tragedies though.

Hot damn. Awesome medieval violence in Branagh's bloody adaptation.

Branagh makes a near perfect Hal in this lovely adaptation of my favorite of the histories. The Agincourt speech gives me goosebumps every, every time. And, I must mention Jacobi, whose narrartor is splendid. Lovely!

The second half is far superior to the first, with the film at its peak from just before the battle to just after. Much of the strength is in the writing of these scenes, of course, but Branagh does a nice job of staging them. The battle scene hides many of the direct hits off screen, taking, compared to many films these days, a less is more approach. The dual highlight of the Crispin's Day speech and the singing of the Non nobis carry the rest of the film.

Hal's not evil, exactly, just a sad and sanguinary victim-hero of "adulthood" (note that the victory at Agincourt had zero long-term benefits for perfidious Albion). Branagh pulls off the plum gig (barely), but the real star here is Brian Blessed as Exeter: an immense badass with brains, teeth, and brawn. It's no wonder the camera often cuts to his merest facial expressions: young Branagh knew Blessed had his back. Derek Jacobi as the very vigorous Chorus is also a real treat.

The most bad-ass a direct adaptation of a Shakespeare play is ever going to get.

This is the best interpretation of Shakespeare I might ever see. Kenneth Branagh does an excellent job making the sometimes unfamiliar words seem very meaningful. All of the actors are truly excellent, and the fight scenes are the best close-combat work I have ever seen. Great stuff.

The way this Shakespeare piece was meant to be staged. Well done.

Certainly a die-hard adaptation of the Bard - it was also not that interesting for me (actually, rather standard). Good, and one of the more masterful Shakespeare films, but nothing I would say makes it stand out among all the other films in the world.

Visually underwhelming, seriously overwrought and rather dull. Even the finest of speeches wouldn't be able to save this piece of theatre, and lo and behold 'St. Crispin's Day Speech' is way too little, way too late. While there's no arguing with Shakespeare's linguistic skills, he seems so in love with words that the story be damned, and so, there's not actually a lot happening. And on that note: You can type that shit, Shakespeare... but you can't say it.

Superb in spots. At other times, not so much. (Branagh just couldn't direct comedy.) Overall my favorite of Branagh's Shakespearean films.

I tried really hard, but I couldn't finish watching this. One of my worst PSI failures. It was supposed to be a T9.

Impressive cast. Wonderful costumes and marvelous acting throughout. Often hard to understand, but add authentic accents and spoken French and you sometimes get gibberish. Horrible asinine narration destroys any sense of continuity between the episodes. A movie made this well, with such an impressive cast that uses decipherable language and one continuous story would likely rate very much higher. The director hath betrayed his viewers.

Sir Ken's directorial debut is occasionally overwrought and often betrays his theatrical background, but his mercurial performance of some of the Bard's finest writing manages to neatly gloss over any creakiness, and the Crispin Crispian speech is as good as it's ever been.

A real star-studded blockbuster of a Shakespeare adaptation, or about as close as you can get. The obvious highlights are the full-on Agincourt battle sequence, and Henry/Branagh's many rousing speeches and soliloquies. The comic relief scenes are equally well handled. Although the pacing is a bit slow in the beginning and there are a lot of characters, it is Shakespeare and that comes with the territory. On the whole it's accessible, good-looking, spectacular and has all the makings of a hit.

A well-done adaptation of the play, but in the end its still Shakespeare. It simply does not appeal to me. Visually, the film is very interesting, and I just love seeing actors chew up dialogue with confidence.
