Her First Affaire

This pretty wild and fairly ribald sex farce is Lupino's first leading role. She's really quite wonderful even though she's only 14 years old! There's a lot of ridiculous nonsense and verbal non sequitur humour blended with a moderately sophisticated romantic quadrangle sex comedy. It's a bit like W.C. Fields meets Ernst Lubitsch while admittedly nowhere near as good as that sounds.

Ida Lupino's first real film! She really looks the innocent 14 years that she was. Both for it's topic of a modern free relationships, and the desire of young girls. The film is lively when Lupino is throwing herself at this author, but apparently there wasn't much of a story so for comedy they add a random flirt with an old major who hates women, which takes up a lot of time. Little bit amusing, but it didn't exactly serve as a good supporting act to Lupino's oozing nymphomania.
