The film is an odd retelling of the story of Hercules (Lou Ferrigno) battling the wizard Minos (William Berger), who uses "science" in an attempt to take over the world. Hercules must stop him and rescue his princess love in the process. Part of the adventure finds Hercules battling giant robots brought to life by stop motion animation. The musical score was provided by Pino Donaggio. (imdb)

None of the nonsense in this movie matches the Greek myths you learned about in school. In fact, when the film was released, ancient Greeks protested outside the theaters, angry at how their religion was being misrepresented. This was their Life of Brian.

Anemic, near unwatchable mess lacks even the basic conviction for it to be a fun bad movie; Ferrigno's stilted line readings match the appalling effects work and shoddy set design and the supporting cast lumber through bad impressions of biblical characters. At least the opening revisionist take on the origins of the universe (!) are good for a few laughs.

Pretty entertaining schlocky 80's adaptation of Hercules. As far as Italian movies go, this one isn't of the rip-off variety and Lou Ferrigno isn't very impressive, pretty buff, though.

I wish I was as drunk as some of the Italians that made this. It might have made it easier.

Decent and at least entertaining take on the legend. Yes the effects are poor even for '83, but the flick is filmed fine and moves along at a good pace. Ferrigno is huge and fits the role well, and it's always nice seeing the lovely Danning (too bad it's a PG movie;)

The extreme low-budget really does show in this movie, resulting in ridiculous sfx, costume and set-design. Unfortunate the entertainment value isn't high and the directing good enough to make up for this.

Family friendly Cannon Group produced Italian retelling of Hercules myth. Poor movie even on trash film scale. Hercules is played by Lou Ferrigno; dude is ripped and can't act for life, but he has certain charisma.

Oh Cannon films, I always thought you could never top yourself, but you always do. Top shelf cheese.

You don't really need to see this one in order to enjoy the way funnier (meaning crappier) sequel. It has some moments sprinkeld here and there, especially concerning costume design and sfx, but most of it is garbage of the bad kind.
