En route to Thebes for an important diplomatic mission, Hercules drinks from a magic spring and loses his memory. He spends most of the movie in the pleasure gardens of Queen Omphale of Lydia. Hércules e a rainha da Lídia estreava há 65 anos na Itália. Esse só vi porque sou completista do Bava, pois não vou muito com a cara de Peplum e só não vi a versão no Mistery Science Theater 3000 porque pra apreciar o trabalho do Bava eu precisava de uma cópia melhorzinha. A gente reconhece o trabalho do Bava pela iluminação, é simplesmente inconfundível, esse aqui não chega a ser tão bom quanto Hércules no Centro da Terra, mas tem seu brilho. YouTube (a cópia dublada em inglês é a melhor lá)

I start to like this sword-and-sandal style. While the acting really misses a lot and they still needed two seperate story arcs to fill in the 90 minutes, I really like the mythical tone and the action scenes just amaze me a lot. Beautifully executed maneveurs all without the aid of CGI. It's impossible to not recognize the incredible talent that has been put into the sight. While I admit that the whole mish-mash isn't very spectacular, I definitely like it enough to continue the series.

Throughout most of this all I could think was that those guys with the white question-mark hats looked like they should be hanging up in a giant closet somewhere. MST had some fun lines ("It's Abe Vigoda vs James Whitmore!") but their wienier tendencies (animal rights and so forth) started to get on my nerves a bit.

This one looks pretty nice, good set design costumes etc but it lacks in the Hercules Clobbering Things department. Queen Omphale is a babe, though!
