Semi-irresistible underdog story works best when it sticks to the formula requirements - while the contrivances and turning gears are plain to see, it's fun to watch Dunne and her motley crew of helpers come together for their common cause. Unfortunately the family violence elements are handled in a hopelessly melodramatic way, capped by an unnecessarily severe (and sour) finale, which undermines much of the good will. Worthwhile for its fine cast (especially Dunne, Hill and Walter).

Amid the tragic circumstances and against the odds this lady builds a house for herself and her two young girls. Only they don't get to live there because of her shithead boyfriend. I feel this movie wasn't even close to being finished? At lease she is free of her abuser, but that was a pitiful reward for watching this otherwise not so worthwhile movie.

This is a good film, a sad story but a good depiction of perserverance and resilience. The scenes featuring the children and the mother were very good. A good film.
