Made in a time when big stars merely 'filled in slots' based on the size of the offers, no actor arguably exploited this system as much as Murphy, who didn't make a single good film between 1997-2006. To call Holy Man a 'toothless satire' is really pushing it because it doesn't really aim its flabby gums in the direction of satire. Sure, it is set in the world of crass television advertising, but it has no real perspective on it and even less wit, and Murphy is in cruise control.

The cast is so much fun that I'm tempted to be more generous with my score, but while it comes to spurting life once in a while (especially during the legitimately hilarious sequence with Morgan Fairchild), it’s surprisingly lifeless; the odd starring combo of Murphy and Goldblum works well, but each seem to be playing in their own movie. Vague and toothless as satire, so the final act turn to self-righteous sanctimony feels cheap and unearned (not to mention toe-curlingly cringeworthy).

A pointless story about someone who's really good at selling junk on TV shopping channels.

It's a stupid feel-good movie, but it's a stupid feel-good movie done very, very well. Bonus for Jeff Goldblum in a wet, gold t-shirt.

Eddie Murphy is generally unnerving in this Aladdin rip-off, as it goes through every cliché imaginable to end up with the oh so very predictable. And yet I don't really have a problem with this one, although it's never more than "MeH...".

You know something is wrong, when an Eddie Murphy movie has Jeff Goldblum as the funniest.

If ever there was a pairing of Hollywood talent that NEVER should have been put together, it's Jeff Goldblum and Eddie Murphy. Eddie Murphy is supposed to be a "holy man" and yet he's as loud and obnoxious as ever and Jeff Goldblum seems to fade away into the background. Not worth anyone's time.

A complete mess of a film. While sometimes not having a genre is a good thing, here it feels like the genre was forced, making it very, very lame. But for some reason I like Jeff Goldblum in anything.

I do not like to be repetitive in my comments, but this is just Ed, in another inconsistent comedy.

Jeff Goldblum gave a great performance in this movie. It is good and has many funny moments, but it is a strange story.

I like Jeff Goldblum. In pretty much anything. Even this ridiculous mess.

The message earns this picture its rating. Anything making fun of consumer culture & telling people inner peace & being happy are good is beneficial. Jeff is charming & Eddie as well, but the picture fails to be really engaging, or to really produce many laughs.
