If you laugh a few times at this ... I'm sorry its probably CTE related. A fat kid farting is the bread and butter of family sports comedy.

Though a watchable but predictable movie, very few laughs in this one.

Hollywood loves churning out these types of sports movies, where a coach must take a rag tag group of underachievers and make them great (Bad News Bears, Hardball, The Replacements to name a few) and while Kevin James is no Walter Matthau, or Keanu Reeves or Billy Bob Thornton, when it comes to acting, he actually does a good job when he's not farting around in lame comedies and plays it straight. It's not terrible, but not good either.

It could have been a decent true events inspired sports movie about the classic underdog narrative and the relationship between an absentee father and estranged son. But of course all of this is coated with Sandlerism (fart jokes and vomit galore). It's like a decent pizza with broccoli topping. Yeah, you can pick them out, but it still stains the remains of the toppings and leaves every bite with a side-taste of fart.

There's not that many family movies coming out so I attempted this, but Home Team (2022) severely lacked laughs for someone who don't care a blank about American style of football. And I'm one that tolerates this crew of aging comic actors.

Quite possibly the worst underdog movie I've ever had the misfortune of seeing. I considered canceling Netflix after watching this, but there's a few things I still want to watch.

Why did I choose to watch a movie made by Adam Sandler where Kevin James plays Sean Payton.

Kevin James delivers an unconvincing performance in a pretty dumb movie about a pretty beautiful story. Was that a bit all over the place? That's nothing compared to this movie.

You know you're watching a Happy Madison Production if the on-screen ex-wife of Keven James is Adam Sandler's wife (Jackie Sandler) who has remarried to be with Rob Schneider, and meanwhile Kevin James is residing at a hotel the concierge of which is Adam Sandler's nephew (Jared Sandler). Oh, and Allen Covert has a cameo as a football referee. I might be crazy for saying this, but Kevin James shows restraint here that suggests he might have the potential for more dramatic roles.
