I find the comedic smallness of Damian Lewis' mouth far to distracting to take this show seriously.

This is a great modern-day spy show that does a great job developing it's characters. The plots are over-the-top, but it works most of the time. The first and second seasons were incredible. Season three went off the rails, they changed the focus of the show in an odd way. Luckily, they pulled it back for season 4, and it's been great ever since. The most recent season (Germany) might have been my favorite. (reviewed after season 5)

In this show you basically watch people who watch a guy who watches his life go by and who may possibly decide to do something some day. Or not. Do you feel the suspense?

S1: 3 / S2: 7 / S3: 4 / S4: 7 / S5: 5 /// Homeland tries very hard to be taken seriously, straining to be counterterrorism's equivalent of The Wire, but I like it best when it discards its pretensions and goes into full-blown 24 mode as it does in seasons 2 and 4. I'm clearly in the minority but I thought season 1 was boring as shit and only kept watching because of the amazing performances of the lead trio.

Season 3 completely fell apart with ludicrous writing that struggled to find a reason why the show still existed and didn't end after two seasons.

Based off season 1, half of season 2, failing to keep up and then hearing secondhand here and there what has happened since.

çok iyi ilk iki sezon sonrası serbest düşüş. karakter odağı ve ilginç ark yerini ucuz ezberlere, işlemeyen motiflere ve tutarsız olay zincirlerine bırakıyor.

Holding out hope after a promising first season, but with each successive season, that hope dwindles.

Following the career-wrecking debacle that was season 3, I was ready to ditch Homeland (and did for a few years), but it really picks up again from season 5-6.

Liked the first series, the characters and the plot, but even then I always felt that this could have been more in one way or another. Not entirely convinced.

The first season was must watch television. However, don't expect the same feel in the following seasons, which steadily decline in both intrigue and suspense. It feels like Zero Dark Thirty drawn out over several seasons and never coming to fruition.

Not every season of this show is a winner, but the ones that are? Well holy crap this show gets intense. The first and last seasons I think are the best, but there are really solid stories throughout.

S1: 65 | S2: 70 | S3: 55 | S4: 55 | S5: 45 | S6: 60 | S7: 50 | S8: 55 Post Season 2, Peter Quinn is easily the most interesting thing about the show, although Max is a decent character as well. Solid acting, but pacing and storylines vary. Carrie is an odd choice of protagonist that might make it difficult for some to get into the show, luckily Claire Danes plays her well. I feel like the show could’ve easily ended at season 3, but the finale is decent considering.

Great series. Starts with a lame premise but every season is better than the one before it. Questionable casting choice with Claire Danes in the lead role, but all the other actors are so good it doesn't matter. Especially Rupert Friend and the guy who plays Saul.

Often touted as a follow-up to 24, this Manchurian Candidate-derived series lacks the tension and the action focus of Jack Bauer's adventures. It's basically a slightly sluggish spy show with its fair share of problems: dumb plot points, Claire Danes overacting and at times heavy neoconservative tendencies (far more than in 24, from what I can remember). I felt S6 was the best overall. Watchable but I don't get the hype.

Basically it falls apart season after season. S1: masterpiece; S2 you can see that they are stretching the Brody story from the plothole popping out everywhere, that the writers tried to cover with a lot of rythm and making you not think, S3 you can see it even more but good final of the Brody story at least, S4 i was happy to see at least a new/refreshing spy-story series with no Brody, but they fucked up everything of the new plot and the "crazy Carrie" bored me. Left the series at half of S4.

Sort of hard to rate, as I feel differently about each season. Season 1: Tense, gripping, original story, with a smart perspective on the war on terror and two terrific lead characters. Season 2: Got too silly and 24-esque (and I LOVE 24, mind you, much more than I love Homeland, but it's not what I signed up for in season 1). Season 3: Dull, weakest season yet. Season 4: Got back to near-season 1 quality level with new Middle Eastern settings, until weirdly boring season finale.

Morena here permanently ruined my memories of Firefly's Inara. Full of the normal absurd TV logic; falls apart in the third season.

After starting of strong every episode of Homeland is a struggle to get through. I despise the character Carrie Mathison. She is a raging lunatic that ruined a promising show.

Homeland is #4 on my list of all-time favourite opening credits, behind Six Feet Under, The Sopranos and Mad Men. The music and the maze get to me every darn time.

I thought the first 3 seasons were terrific and followed an arc that didn't disappoint. Claire Danes, the ginger guy, the guy from Princess Bride, etc were in top form. The shtick starts to wear thin by season 4. The writers decided to put these same characters in different situations that in no way involves the working thread of the first 3 seasons.

Season 1 was a flawless piece of television. The performances were bold, the script was tight, the tension and pacing were all impeccably realized. Season 2 and 3 were certainly where the series began to falter, and the exact point where I wished that Homeland had really been a mini-series. However, now that season 4 has reached its conclusion and Carrie and co. have been presented with a whole new batch of problems, I think that Homeland is beginning to find its voice post-Brodie.

Season 5 ("Berlin") has been the best so far. The "European spy thriller" mode felt a lot more interesting than the silly "Muslims blow stuff up, Carries stops Muslims and sleeps with someone inappropriate" tripe from previous seasons. Unfortunately, even season 5 still has a Muslim terrorist subplot, but you take what you can get.

However smart the plot might have been, frequent sex scenes killed it for me.
