Honeydew

One of the more disturbing horror films i've seen. It had a very real feel, which added to its scariness.

The quippy dialogue and jerky, cartoonish style succeed in making the film somewhat distinctive superficially, but fail to help it as a horror movie. Seems heavily influenced by Joe Dante's segment of the Twilight Zone movie in some really annoying ways. Though we are constantly reminded it could have been worse: Spielberg's son stars.

Some really effective editing and a general nightmarish TCM feel makes me want to really like this more than the dull leads and dragged-out denouement probably deserve. Throws out a lot of hooks it doesn't necessarily mean to reel in, but mostly manages to play that for deliberate confusion.
