A new Covidimension in terror. Perfect length for this kind of thing just under an hour, would hate to see this padded out (oh Unfriended) “Oi you troyin to summon a bleedin’ ghoulie” Watching this was reminded my car insurance broker shares a building with a psychic medium bullshit artist like some sitcom waiting to break out

Gonna keep the score low because I dread the wave of Covid movies that will probably eat up a solid two years of the cultural zeitgeist. BUT the Zoom gimmick was well-executed, right down to making the movie last about as long as an unlicensed Zoom meeting would. Some neat commentary as well...you blamed Gemma at first too, didn't you? Also lowish because I hate jump scares. I'm an elder millennial. Meant oldest of the young people a few years ago; now I'm just old and don't want to be startled.

Pretty good, but it was very predictable. I liked how it fit everything in such a short amount of time and didn't drag anything out.

Apparently they made a British "Unfriended" (practically identical save for the inconsequential covid lockdown backdrop), and they still haven't come up with an explanation as to why people would stay glued to their video calls after it's obvious their friends are getting brutally killed while doing so. Where do young filmmakers find the gall?

Blair Witch in a Zoom call. Yeah, it's a gimmick, but it's one that works. Never overstays its welcome, and at least it's a more relatable image of a 2020 apocalypse (with demons!) than The Stand.

Simple premise, simple idea, good execution, short, to the point, and fun. What else can you ask for? Especially during the god awful pandemic. And to think that it came out from a prank the director did to the actors.. Noice..

A tense and well-paced found footage horror. Won't surprise anyone, but isn't trying to.

Insubstantial but enjoyable riff on BLAIR WITCH for the COVID age; suspension of disbelief is a given, but film struggles when trying to find reasons why you would lug your device around with you when running for your life! Brief enough so that these considerations never become a real concern, but it does undercut the tension from time to time; performances are "realistic" and likable enough to be worth spending the hour with. Largely predictable jump scares still worked for a sook like me!

The idea of it is nice and the way it uses technology to introduce you to the horror elements is brilliant. There are too many cheap jump scares, though, and despite everyone saying how they need to get out... they really don't.

Done before in Unfriended but it still works. This one did it's own thing and even though it wasn't all that scary it had lots of suspense.

Good performances, atmosphere and effective. Too bad that, from the middle to the end, it becomes formulaic and predictable, losing its impact.

I think I'm just into these "filmed on a computer/phone screen" films. This isn't as good as something like Unfriended because it didn't take the time to make us care about the characters, plus the dialogue wasn't as convincing, but hell, this still got me. It's the way it's filmed, it grounds you in reality. There are a few moments where you have to ignore the fact that they are still carrying their phones during this but it still works. Good scares, just wish the ending wasn't so predictable.

Finally another movie that is speaking the same cinematic and undoubtedly modern language as the criminally underrated Unfriended.

Très flippant avec un budget réduit. Les filles jouent bien leur rôle, jusqu'à ce qu'elles portent un masque, et appliquent les gestes barrières. Nous seulement le réalisateur prend ses héroïnes pour des connes, mais les spectateurs avec.

It’s got some problems, most notably the “why are you still filming (or in this case, on Zoom)” problem most found footage films have. The runtime helps though, and the use of the face filter is pretty inventive, probably could’ve been used again as a jump scare or something.

Made me very anxious, as a horror should. Why Jemma kept filming at the end is beyond me. Nice length and good dialogue.

Everyone praising the running time, but I wish it were longer. Computer screen/desktop horror kinda brought some new dynamics to found footage, and this one really manages to add the quarantine vibe to it -- I also wish there were more breathing, navigating, boring on-screen movement, but that's ok. Post-generated demonic presence feels less cool than it should, but this fairly works well as a perfect examination of how our Covid-19 quarantine boredom can easily goes berserk in a sec. STAY HOME

It has a few easily nitpickable problems, & the "reveal" is really something I'd rather not have happened, but beyond that- wow. This is super fun, creepy, genuinely tense & clever as hell. It makes excellent use of the Zoom format, the characters feel like real people, the comedy bits actually land, & the plot is pretty subversive. The script is smart, quick, & fairly unpredictable. At under an hour, it never once feels rushed. The pacing is kinda perfect, actually. Check this one out.

have had Zoom meetings with my boss that have been more scary. I didn't think it worked as well as Paranormal Activity, but it seems to have worked for a lot of people so maybe I am just getting old.

Honestly incredible for a concept you would hear, immediately say "That's stupid and overdone" and not watch. But please watch it. It's only an hour and it's worth its weight in gold. All horror movies with shallow characters should also have the characters' names on screen at all time.

It's a lightweight affair, and that is the problem. It's too simple and there isn't enough mystery. Some of the jump scares are predictable. It's a lot like Unfriended, but less successful. All that being said, it is a breezy watch, and can be unnerving at times.

These video chat filmed movies have been surprisingly good despite the assumptions you'd have towards them as a concept.
