I'm not sure what made less sense: the score or the plot. On one hand, the plot was just a blender of subplots that made very little sense that in my opinion had an unsatisfying and kinda illogical ending. On the other hand, the score kept going into the song from the Lord of the Rings that would play when people were looking at the One Ring but then not actually playing that and I really wanted the twist of the movie to actually be that its in a fantasy setting with Bruce Willis as Gandalf.

It's an alright movie and Bruce Willis is pretty good but a lot of the characters didn't feel properly fleshed out and the plot felt forced, especially the relationship with Foster and Willis' daughter. I must make serious note that although I thought Ben Foster's character wasn't very well written I thought he played the part amazingly. I don't think I've ever been so impressed with a performance based around a mediocre character before.

The plot is too convoluted to be any fun, Bruce Willis is mopey, Ben Foster tries way too hard to be menacing, and the boring action scenes are made more "exciting" with unwelcome slomo. Honestly, if the slow-motion in this film were upped to normal speed, the film's running time would clock in at 37 minutes. Still, not a bad view if your only other choice was gurgling battery acid.

In Hostage, Bruce Willis tries to fill in the shoes of his Die Hard personality but fails despondently. Okay, but I wouldn't watch it unless it's in a $5 Wal-Mart movie bin or on television. Everything just felt unproperly handled from the unfleshed out cast to the worst route a thriller can take previously thought.

Efter at have læst bogen var forventningerne minimale - men filmen formår at skære alt det overflødige (amerikanske) familiesentimentalitet væk og skabe en godt skåret spændingsfilm med forventelig afslutning

Bruce Willis trying to be serious and thoughtful is not a good thing, and the hyperactive plot can't make up for it. Willis seems to have one talent: playing the wisecracking tough guy, and he doesn't get to do it here. What I wouldn't have given for a "yippie-kai-yay, motherfucker!"

It's clear that Bruce Willis wanted to make a film that is reminiscent of the action packed films of the 1980s. The one thing that's missing from Hostage, though, is the ability to make any sense. This film is disjointed in its own right and everything is conveniently placed only to progress the plot. Nothing flows naturally and Kevin Pollak's impressive performance is probably the only redeeming quality this movie has.

A former hostage negotiator (Willis) has moved to a small town, after a mistake cost a young boy and his mother their lives. However, after 3 guys break into a house and hold the family hostage, he has to try and find a way to get the family out of there unharmed. However, he's in for a rude awakening at just how serious the situation is, when his own wife and daughter have been kidnapped, and the bad guys will only let them go if he manages to retrieve something from inside the house.

Hostage is much better than I anticipated and overall it's a decent Bruce Willis action film. It's not as fast paced as the Die Hard films and it's much more understated and something of a slow burner. It definitely has a Die Hard/Panic Room cross over vibe. And there are several incredibly thrilling moments. The opening scene in particular is great. Bruce Willis gives a good performance and Ben Foster is decent also. It begins to run out of steam towards the finale but otherwise It's enjoyable.

Above average action movie. Tho very predictable, the acting from Willis and co stars combined with a solid script and some nice cinematography makes for an enjoyable watch. If you like Willis, or like subtle action movies, your gonna like this one. Dont look for much else tho, cos you aint gonna find it.

Very lightweight, full of pointless secondary characters, a rubbish script & a half-baked sub-plot. But "Hostage" kept me well entertained! Brucie runs around doing some of that there acting, shooting baddies & crying during several phone conversations. On top of this fun, there is a retarded psychopath teenager with an eye for an artistic kill & several needless deaths of equally idiot characters. If Bruce had of kept that mighty beard for the whole movie I honestly would have ranked it higher!

A very cliche action film that rolls on a rocky road. The plot is almost the epitome of cliche action films. The 'villians' are a bunch of teenage kids who're all extremely weak in their role. Bruce Willis does his job well and acts the 'tired cop' perfectly. The directing is there but feels like it is the directors first time. There are no real twists or anything to spice this film up and drags during some of the film. The ending is very predictable but satisfying. If you're a Bruce Willi

Not a good sign when the opening credit sequence is the most imaginative and captivating part of the movie. The rest is average run of the mill schlock, running on borrowed ideas. It's Die Hard meets Panic Room, with nary an original thought in its head -- which would be okay if it were fun, but it's not.
