Hot Rod

I personally can't get enough of this movie. The Lonely Island boys and the rest of the cast do an amazing job of creating unique characters that stick with you for a while. If you like a good laugh and don't mind borderline childish humor every now and then - much like myself - then I'd recommend it.

A coming of age movie centered around The American Dream, we follow the young and careless drifter Rod, who gets his kicks from performing dare devilish stunts on his moped. But when his masculine role model and stepfather falls ill with a terminal heart condition, Rod must take his final step towards becoming a man. This comedy sleeper still manages to stir up indignation amongst people, regarding the scandal of not making it to the Academy Awards of 2008. AMPAS, hWere do yo get off?

Andy Samberg is a funny guy, but in this movie he doesn't have enough to work with. I think with a better script and more ambition from the charaters they could have gave us a verry funny movie, this is not that movie. Even though the material is uneven this movie a few laughs, huge dumbass laughs. For example the scene where he falls down a mountain over and over and over. That was just good shot and staged comedy. I just wanted a little more from this movie for me to really like it.

As funny as these kind of stupid comedies get, there's only so much you can love a movie which has ironic quotation marks around every single frame.

This is a classic.

I dig Andy Samberg. I also enjoy Ian McShane, Isla Fisher, Chris Parnell, and Sissy Spacek. But, this film, while not awful, was a real disappointment.

I wasn't into this for the first few reels, but it really started to grow on me; it's a comedy that gets funnier as it goes along, and I appreciate that. The best moment, by the way, goes to Will Arnett, who wins it with one single facial expression. Somebody nominate that man for Supreme Chancellor.

It's a very specific sort of dumb, but I enjoyed it.

Worth it just for the hill scene, which had me weeping.
