I enjoy this more than any rational person should. Goes back and forth from ridiculous to hilarious to ridiculously-hilarious.

Stoner comedies are a real anachronism now, but HH is probably the best example of this disreputable sub-genre since the heyday of Cheech and Chong. Meth and Red have very natural screen chemistry, just like they do on record, and Red in particular has an obvious talent for comedy. The strong supporting cast of veterans obviously helps--Willard, Elizondo and Babatunde are especially funny--and there is an anarchic quality to the onscreen shenanigans that recalls the spirit of 80's teen comedies.

It's got something for everyone, though at first I assumed it would just be another "black" movie like Friday, Juice, etc. At the end I found myself more invested in the side characters than I thought I would be. Good chemistry in the leads. Jokes that were lame were not dragged out, though the whole grave scene was a bit long for my liking. Fav scene: overly "woke" history prof giving the leads an unsatisfying walkout and then berating the more "white" black students for not following.

I am pretty sure this was the first film I ever downloaded from Kazaa (either this or Freddy Got Fingered). The director of this is Bob Dylan's son, so there is a possibility that Bobby D watched this. I could not find an Ebert review, unfortunately.

NWA: Niggaz With Animal House. Seriously dumb but at times pretty damn funny. They sure showed that crusty ol' dean.

Method and Red are surprisingly self-aware but maybe less surprisingly are light years from mastering the art of subtlety. There's an even amount of race-baiting and pandering present on all sides of the coin, but nothing productive is done with it. I guess it boils down to "Real Genius for black people", but with even less script. All this aside, I lol'd many times.

As someone not particularly au fait with the ways of the stoner, I wasn't entirely sure how much I'd appreciate this, but it turned out to be a solid laugh anyway. Silly but wears its absurd comedy well.

This movie is not cleverly made, like it should anyway (since it's a comedy). However, the humor about getting high and the not-so-building chemistry between two thugs and Harvard students/staff makes is somewhat hysterical. It was cool seeing Cypress Hill as a cameo star and some others joined in. The actors suck, the plot structure isn't accurate, overly put stereotypes on social groups, yet it's all good - probably when you're high, it makes a big difference. Overall it's half good/half bad.

Ok, so you must leave your brain out when you watch stoner movies, in this context the movie is ok, has some very over the top and funny moments, but other are just unfunny jokes. Overall kept me entertained and that was the point.
