Searing, thought provoking documentary is perhaps a little too slowly paced at times, leading to redundancy in some points made. Weiwei is to be commended for presenting, at surface level, a dispassionate, closely observed record of the tiring, arduous (and tedious) journey of an asylum seeking refugee, encountering frustrations and hostility at every turn. Weiwei leaves his viewers to take what political message they might from the scenario, avoiding the temptation to slide into preachiness.

Filled with stark images of the desperate conditions faced by refugees. Pacing is very uneven with many long pauses. In contrast to the hardships and depressing realities this movie struggles to maintain a hopeful outlook. It tries to expose the increases in human displacement around the world.

Much better and more nuanced than 'Fire at Sea'.
