Dishwasher 'Bill Jackson' thwarts a robbery; resulting publicity fingers him as the 12-years-missing Richard Kinkaid, wanted for murder. Kinkaid half-convinces public defender Paul Bennett of his innocence; but Paul knows he'll never convince a jury without the 7 witnesses who've had 12 years to vanish. It develops that these prosperous young folks have gone down in the world. Paul and his father, a one-armed ex-cop, have a week to find them. (imdb)

On the surface, it's nothing fancy looking. Yet, somehow they made the investigation an intriguing one. Just to see how the witnesses had changed since the original murder trial 12-years earlier. George Archainbaud was always a solid B-movie director, but here he excelled getting more out of what he had to work with. Not so much visually, as it was shot in a very plain way, but he made the story snappy with a interesting set of characters to carry Hunt the Man Down (1950) to a worth wild time.
