I Am Not a Hipster

I'm not going to be super harsh on this. There were some good performances. Definitely one for the angsty emo adolescents. Is emo still a thing? Fuck I have another birthday coming up...

a warm film about a sad guy who, to his misfortune, understands more about everything than others.

Tut tut.. Such a shameless use of buzzword to get attention. This is very low budget coming of age family drama financed using Kickstarter platform. It's not hard to guess that film was written by a young man, eager to display his knowledge of psychology, without much experience or ambition to go beyond obvious and simple.

Well-made enough to somewhat counteract the inherent sadsack douchbaggery of it all, and the fact that i absolutely hate the type of overly earnest indie folksy crap the movie hinges on (and that title, oh man...) It sort of works as an interesting companion piece to Inside Llewyn Davis even if it's nowhere near as good of a film. Other times it comes off like a Portlandia sketch that takes itself completely seriously.
