I Am Sam (2001)
The compelling story of Sam Dawson (Penn), a mentally challenged father raising his daughter Lucy with the help of an extraordinary group of friends. When a social worker suggests that Lucy should be placed in foster care, Sam forms an unlikely alliance with a high-powered attorney (Pfeiffer). Together they struggle to convince the system that Sam deserves to get his daughter back and, in the process, fuse a bond that results in a unique testament to the power of unconditional love. I'd like to thank the Academy for giving me this honor and also all the mentally ill people out there for giving me the inspiration. Ok, anyway, just look at this films plot: A mentally sick man pursuits the chance to raise her "brilliant" daughter by himself. Yeah, you read well, they're trying to make us be in his side lol. It's like Little Man's Tate but with Jodie Foster as a retard.

Sean Penn is great, and no one else even comes close to stealing the screen in this film. He makes I Am Sam very sweet and touching, but regardless, it's not very memorable or captivating. Meh!

Ok this is an exception to the rule for me, because its a sad movie that I actually like. I don't really know why I like it. The kid is the best part of this movie. Its pretty emotional because it had me on the brink at points.
