If there were a cinematic dictionary, where each film were assigned to an adjective, then allow me to introduce you to the entry under "bizarre." Follies-type star Harvey joins a marionette theater after a debilitating accident where she learns to stand up for herself, but not before being put on trial by a crowd of nightmarish puppets out for blood. And then she dances through Hell for the big finale. Did I mention it's a musical? If this is your kind of thing, do not miss it.

What a bizarre musical! One they used to try and get British/German star Lilian Harvey over with the American audience. I think they scared them away instead. The whole flavor is definitely much darker then the American cinema goers were used to. Something more suited for Eastern Europe cinema. A love story where the distinction between puppets and humans where blurred. Sometimes excellent, but ruined by Gene Raymond whose acting was more wooden then the puppets used in this puppeteer story.
