Seems like asians didn't get the memo that zombies have fallen out of fashion lately, a trend I'm happy they've ignored. As a lifelong zombie buff, my opinion will be highly partial, but this one does tweak enough of the established mythos. The zombies here are original enough to throw a dash of freshness in, combine that with the novelty (at least in Japan) of having a firearm, and the one guy in the movie with a shotgun feels far more significant than he would if it took place in the USA.

Japanese version of Train to Busan (2016)... almost. Different settings, but the same fun! One thing's for sure, Asians are busting out quality zombie movies lately!

The zombie CG is great, and the initial set-up is promising. But it has some of the worst pacing for a zombie action flick with overlong fight scenes lacking any interesting variation, made worse by its 126 minute runtime. It fails to offer anything new to the genre that contemporaries like Zombieland and Warm Bodies (yes, Warm Bodies) hasn't already provided.

A pretty unique take on the zombie film. It seems to take parts from Tokyo Zombie and Train Man and mix in a good bit of drama. A lot of people compare this with Train to Busan even though this came out first. The acting is good and the effects were handled well even if they are a bit goofy at times. The biggest downside to the movie is that it's about 10 minutes or so too long and drags almost to a screeching halt once you meet the the survivor group.

Asian zombies are the best zombies. The movie manages to give the genre a little spin with some cool zombies, lots of action, and a very decent story. This came *before* Train to Busan, so extra points for that. There are some things left unresolved like SPOILER AHEAD **the almost-zombie girl has super strength? why?** . Still, well worth a watch.
