British musical based on the rise to fame of the infamous DuBarry. Rare chance to see the continental European soprano Gitta Alpar in full bloom in a vibrant costume drama! Very British with plenty of naughty verbal bits being spewed out as they don't hide how she got her rather outrageous reputation. They could have gone even further, I felt, for I lacked that extra smutty touch for this suggestive tale. Not far off a grand success, but something was missing to make this a cinematic orgy.
